Nigerians like to complain.
Yes, the cost may be inflated, but that is a plebean issue compared to how they would be maintained, or how much they would generate, these are the things to be worried about.

Public infrastructure projects are often inflated all over the world, it isn't unique to Nigeria or Africa. It's the scale of inflation that citizens should be concerned about, and I don't think those project costs were too inflated.

So following recent discussions on the appropriateness, beauty and otherwise of the Oshodi transport Hub, questions arose as to how much was being spent to erect the edifice.

Apparently the information is already in the Public Domain and the cost as provided by none other than the Governor is $70,000,000.00 (N25Billion)

Akpabio did well by building that stadium in Uyo and the Lagos government is also doing well for building the Oshodi terminal. These are infrastructures that we see and admire when we go to other foreign countries like South Africa, Europe, America, etc but when we try to replicate it here some people must complain. We should learn to give credit to our governors that are trying to modernize our infrastructures and stop this enemy-of-progress behavior that complains whenever infrastructure is upgraded please.

It's sickening to always see these comments on Nairaland about project figures being overly high and sorts.
My question is: how many of you have carried out proper evaluation of the cost of these projects and how they arrived at the figures quoted? None?

It's becoming too cliché seeing these comments on posts that showcase public projects; It's like 100% expecting rain after lightning and thunder.

If we no see projects we go complain, If we see project, we go complain of phantom looting; I tire!

We need to develop our minds above this sort of pettiness, shouting that money has been looted without proof or evidence of it's existence.

That is a lie. People like you will always play politics with our development by always using 'overblotted' cost as an excuse for us not to develop. Project costs are inflated everywhere in the world, yet those countries are still doing big projects, modernizing and developing. And our people will go abroad and clap for their modernity while abusing their own country for not developing like those countries. No matter the cost of the project some will still say it is inflated.

One is a necessity to the people, the other a necessity to the state. I prefer people centric investments so the transport hub offers far more socio-economic traction so cannot be termed a white elephant. Also the continuity in investments in infrastructure in Lagos over the years makes any additions look more objective than the spot investments in Akwa-Ibom which is proven to be unsustainable. Uyo has a lot of semi-completed and abandoned projects the present government has not moved on. That is the definition of white elephant, unsustainable.
