Politicians keeps saying they were pressured by the people to contest for elective positions... Who are the people?

Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong Friday declared his intention to contest the 2019 governorship election in the state after the member representing Jos south/Jos east Federal constituency, Hon Edward Pwajok moved a motion to compel the Governor to declare.
A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Yakubu Dati said the motion was seconded unanimously adding that the governor had yielded to pressure from people of the State and other stakeholders to re-contest the governorship seat.
Dati said the declaration which attracted a standing ovation from stakeholders was made at the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders meeting held at Yelwa Club in Jos, Plateau State.
He said the meeting chaired by the APC Chairman, Latep Dabang had in attendace, the entire party leadership in the state, the Deputy Governor and members of the State Executive Council. “Others include the Hon. Speaker and members of the Plateau State House of Assembly as well as members of the National Assembly.”
He added that those who spoke included Dame Pauline Tallen, former Deputy Governor, Arc. Pam Dung Gyang, former Chairman of National Population Commission, Chief Sumuila Makama and others who paid glowing tributes to Lalong for successfully steering the APC away from crisis following his Committee report which gave an amicable solution.
A Special Adviser to Governor Lalong, Sati Tanko told Daily Trust that the governor had also briefed the stakeholders on the report of his committee adding that, “he told stakeholders that his committee settled for fresh congresses to avoid a legal lacoona that may later on affect the party negatively.”

please let me correct an impression here.Simon Bako Lalong is the worst thing to ever happen to plateau state.I live in the state,Jos to be precise and this man has never done any project in the state even roads.the construction going on in the state were done by the former governor but as not completed,but contractors were paid 80% of the said fees.he came to power wanting to stop work and re-award the contract to another company but he was told and warned not to do so by the stake holders of the state.the only road he did is the one close to plateau specialist hospital that links to British american,it was not even patched not a newly constructed road. he is known in the state as "chicks and booze" cos that's all he is good for.come the next election,he knows he is going back to his house.this man is the worst thing to ever happen to a state walahi.if not for the stake holders in the state,Benue state would have been a child's play compared to what would have happened in the state.
he should just visit all the clubs in the state for one last time before he leaves the government house.

No wonder the underperforming governor has been bootlicking the old haggard in aso rock and championing his reelection bid so he can do same.


Time the accidental governor should've used to convince his people that he's capable of a 2nd term. Lalong, you'll fail woefully in the polls, that's for sure

It's surprising that some people will still vote for him. Nigerians just like suffering.
