Sir we validated , re entry in the previous test ,there is no point in wasting money , time and resources this test is mainly to check the functionality of landing gear. After reentry they free fall to earth and starts to glide in lower parts of atmosphere , Helicopters can go upto 15000 m that's enough, if we go further higher the air becomes less denser and won't produce much lift for glide . And this is purely my observation grin grin
Never mentioned anything about re entry in my previous post grin

My doubts were solely related to the use of a helicopter to conduct the test.

RLV is already a scaled down prototype , and if they further scale it down then reduction in weight / size and subsequent induced aerodynamic (helicopter and payload) interactions ( if carried underslung ) should work.

Again Load dispensation from a helicopters cargo bay is not as easy as it sounds, this involves exhaustive tests and certification. Otherwise the safety of the platform and crew is very much at risk. The margin of error is very very miniscule. This will need a herculean effort.

The additional problem is when a unpowered glide vehicle is air dropped , it needs time to generate enough lift and controllability via interaction of the minimal control surfaces it has and recover from induced dynamic instabilities, all while losing altitude pretty fast.

Therefor margin for stimulating the required flight path for the intended landing exercise becomes very small.

But let's see if they finally use the usual rocket booster or employ a helicopter

Either way no problem provided they complete the mission parameters. grin grin grin

I am just a noob in all this , and I just post for the sake of it.

Note: it believe Ur info about using helicopter to conduct the drop test comes from this picture. On the left u can see the poster refering to it.

The thing is then the test article will be further substantially reduced in size and scale inorder to conduct the test.

This is the most practically useful UAV concept I have seen. In the thick of war, sometimes no runway even for UAV
