India withdraws from FGFA project.

According to Jane's Defence Weekly the Indian Air Force stopped the already 11-year old collaborative programme with Russia for development of the so-called FGFA programme (Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft). The main reason for ending the collaboration are differences over its development costs and technological capabilities.

The FGFA is/was a joint project between Russia and India to develop a fifth-generation fighter aircraft. It is a derivative project of the Russian Sukhoi Su-57 Frazor that is being developed for the Russian Air Force. The Indian version was supposed to be a two-seater for pilot and co-pilot/weapon systems operator (WSO).

IISc developed advanced Stealth/ heat resistant material for Hypersonic brahmos.

This new material can survive heat of upto 2200 degrees Celcius and tremendous aerodynamic-drag during atmospheric flights with speeds of upto Mach-10 . The material has been chosen by 'BrahMos Aerospace Limited' and will soon be sent for wind-tunnel testing before the initial prototypes are assembled in final configuration.

Well plz feel free to tell us on how u plan

1. to stimulate the aerothermal flight environment encountered by a test article at hypersonic speeds. ( ie high heat transfer rates ~ 3000-6000 btu/sec ft2 , high temperature ~ 2000-3000 °c , high pressure ~ 600-800 psi etc etc )

2. and test materials/structural/components survivability of a test article at hypersonic speeds.

And this is being done in USA India Israel Russia ....

To test how it respond to Hypersonic flights , helpful in calculating drag , heat resistance . Plus the integrity of the entire system .

Will need to conduct trials to come at a conclusion. grin

IA for the sake of building robust domestic capability will do well to select the kalyani ULH if it qualifies the trials , IA should take m777 as the benchmark and if ULH comes close to m777 in terms of performance , then go for it. A local product offers better support interms of iterative upgradation trouble shooting and overall product support. Everything at almost half the costs.

Its good that Ind/ia has withdrawn from FGFA project atleast it would help save funds , A heavy 5th generation fighter can wait but lower tier junks must be flushed out.

What do you say?

New J-15s are still not shown with heavy loads, few years ago a news agency alleged to Jiang Zemin faction reported that J-15 can barely reach 200 kms if it takes off with full load.

Without sabotaging the project, Chinkistaan continued it and here we are giving thumbs down to Naval LCA.

Huh !
