Had something similar sometimes back.
After prolonged hanging like that that foot becomes ischaemic and gangrene sets in.The only option to save the person's life then becomes amputation of the affected limb,if he is lucky.
When the i diot of a boss then gets arrested and charged he would be blaming it on the devil!
