Fuel scarcity loading!

A nation that cant refine its own fuel after 60 years, it also wants cheap fuel but doesnt want to pay subsidies. Such an interesting situation.
That is why we must deregulate.

Prices go up, yes, but so does investment, refineries, and eventually prices will crash due to competition.

We can't afford subsides anymore. Unless oil goes up to $150 and above

In case you must know, we caused it.

I have seen guys here call subsidy a fraud, and then turn around and demand low petrol prices.

The only way to keep prices low is.. by paying a subsidy.

Govt knows that, and it knows subsidy is economic disaster, but also knows it won't survive petrol going up above 200 if there was no subsidy.

So NNPC engages in a scam to keep fuel low.

Yet, without the scam, we would have been buying fuel at 200 and above, and you people would be complaining
Don't quote me again. You are a poorly informed fellow I have schooled a few times on this website on the fraud perpetrated by NNPC. It's comical that you appear mostly when the failures of NNPC are being magnified.

Any procurement outside the budget, no matter how noble, that disregards statutory, accounting and regulatory checks and balances is fraudulent.

In this case na the masses go suffer. Buhari or the senators would not feel the brunt
do they care about the masses when they removed the subsidy after riding on the masses to win the 2015 election?

We scrap subsidy payments, then NNPC is left with no option but to wisely deregulate, and fuel shoots up above 200 per liter.

Good for our economy, but you would complain again
What is good about it huh I wonder Buhari and your likes can survive what the masses are going through undecided

Come to the grassroots, they are the mirror through the world see any government

Go and see what the people are going through

Policies that did not benefit the citizens of the country, that one na good policy huh

I don't support NNPC illegal payments though. I think I have made myself clear by my support for deregulation.

Since you don't support it, you want fuel prices to go up. Good.

I am in support of scraping the subsidy afterall Buhari himself once admitted that there is nothing like subsidy

So where is this coming from huh

Fuel pump price was N87 including fuel subsidy. Under Buhari, it is N145 with subsidy shocked shocked shocked

Its either Buhari is very very clueless or he is the biggest thief without conscience that this country has ever come across

Secondly people will complain when things are going wrong

This administration is not getting it!

Sadly, if oil goes up to $150, there will be no succor because petrol landing price will go up to N300 and that means more subsidy.

If the government was serious about solving this subsidy crisis without inflicting pains on Nigerians, a dedicated loan should have been taken to speedily set up several modular refineries (just at the site of existing refineries). After completion, the refineries should be handed over/concessioned to private establishments to run them efficiently and profitably and pay royalties to government just like the NLNG. With that arrangement, the loans could even be paid off in a couple of years and Nigeria would kiss the vicious subsidy cycle goodbye.

So why was it increased to 145? @85 we paid lesser subsidies now 145 we pay more subsidy...Guy, even if you are paid won't you for once think of your children? How much are you paid compared to what they steal? God help you

1. Because by 2013, N87 was only being paid in Lagos and Abuja. By 2016 when we raised prices we were running out of money in dollars to subsides and import fuel, which meant landing costs had increased, so a price increase was done.

If we had not done so,we would have been in serious economic crisis.

2.If we want prices to go down to 87 naira again, which is what you want, we would have to drain our foreign reserves to pay subsides again. No thanks. We would be as broke as Venezuela if we did that.

Venezuela pays less than 80 naira per liter for fuel. Their foreign reserve is less than $10 billion.

No one says subsidy shouldn't be paid but not through the backdoor. That leaves room for manipulation and stealing. If you Buhari pays subsidy let him raise appropriation for it through the house of assembly. He should be humble enough to swallow his vomit and admit subsidy is real and is being paid. All this one they are doing is avenue for corruption. His 'integrity' ought to help him rise above that.

Oga please be matching price of pms with the price of crude oil and the exchange rate.

We hate the government, but we need to understand the workings of certain things.

Refineries won't stop deregulation because the owners have to make a profit.

That's true, but for me, bottom line, we should not be paying subsidy again, legally or buhari style illegally. We can't afford it.

Back in 2014/2015, Buhari said anything subsidy is a scam. Now he is the President and he is siphoning our money through the same subsidy he said never existed.

Buhari is a monumental failure.....a colossal mistake that must be corrected in 2019
Bro How can you say he is scamming us fru same subsidy? his one is different, He is in charge of the ministry for which the NNPC is under, lus he made a transparent system not so transparent. They have been paying themselves since 2017.

You know what, I laugh at youths who swallowed the NO more subsidy slogan, this was the only thing the government pays for its citizens. Now I was challenging anyone back when the news broke to point me a country where you could land PMS from @ N300 ,till date no one could now who pays the difference .I'm very surprised at the said educated ones amongst here could not see fru their lenses.

Oga, haba...That's exactly my point. The price increase from 85 - 145 was supposed to have been done now and not when it was increased to a point government was making profit from PMS sales to Nigerians. I raised it then that such action will backfire as price of crude will skyrocket later on which is what we are experiencing now. The price should now hover at 120 - 150. But poor decision have affected us that government now spend trillions on subsidy.
