You are missing the point. The banter is cos it worked out for some of the people here.

They are only trying to emphasize on the need for creativity. Coding alone doesn't cut the deal.

Teach them the basics first....
Then those who are passionate about programming will use it to solve real problems....
U guys are cynic.....

Though it's a nice initiative. But Lagos State Govt truly hopes one of this kids will build something worth billions or attract a million dollar investment from foreign firms so they could tax the living daylight out of it eventually.

Do you think any child will make a breakthrough and will be allowed to leave just like that without dropping something? They frankly wouldn't mind taxing the successful beneficiaries till they go broke. After all you owe them the millions that went into the budget for this program.

That aside....as a programmer. I can tell you it takes more than writing codes to succeed in the tech industry.

You might not even know Jack about codes and still succeed in tech. It all revolves around your reasoning ability and the virtual product you are able to develop.

Argue with me at your own peril....

That's true. Some of the largest tech companies were founded by people who don't know how to code. Alibaba, amazon and apple are prime examples.
