I would go with the Fangpusun Blue Solar/Victron clone on the basis of 'MPPT Tracking Efficiency' - I have bench marked the charging current output of this CC vs EP Solar and it is far superior in tracking ability and total power harvested.

Also I am not aware of any limitations or quirks of that specific Fangpusun unit that makes it prefer 2 panels in series to 3 panels in series for a 48v system. Based on my observations, the unit clamps the array voltage lower than what the MorningStar for example would work with and I believe this is why MorningStar can produce about 10 to 15% more power over the course of one day given thesame operating conditions.

Perhaps this preference for 2 panels in series vs 3 is on the Fangpusun Outback/Midnite type clones but I have no experience with those units.

hi house. I have a question
there are 6 no's 300w panels.(imp :8.24amp, Vmp : 36.7v, VOC: 44.06v) and two MPPT controllers available. system is to run on 48v. according to gleanings from the forum:

fangpusun prefers 2s*3p : total string current : 8.24*3= 24.72a

TriStar/epever prefer 3s*2p: total string current:16.48a

which will offer more MPPT Current under the same light conditions?

Wrong mention; I didn't do a temperature sensor hack; I use a DC fan . . .

Open the inverter and take a snapshot. Post here; we will point it out to you

Hello, the both controllers are good but also have their flaws. I have used the ep solar "a tracer series" and worked good for me without issues . I still use the ep solar "I tracer version" and it is still firing like new wink.. It depends on your choice as both works pending on your configuration and system voltage !

Note: it's easy to fix a defective / faulty ep solar mppt as I have helped a lot of friends in repairs . Cheer's

Here is how to resolve the excessive mustpower series temperature issue by changing the position of the temperature sensor so the fan comes on at 40 degrees vs 65degrees.
step 1: Locate the temperature sensor on the heat sink(first picture)
step 2:Increase the length of the temperature sensor wire by adding additional wires so it can reach the transformer
step 3:Loose one nut of the transformer lamination holder and use a big washer to fix the temperature sensor to the transformer as shown(third picture)

whatsapp me for further clarification(see my signature)

Good evening house,

I'm trying to improvise a PV combiner box using 4 circuit breakers and breaker box.

Attached is a sketch of how the connection will look like.

The PV combiner box is for 16# of 325w panels (4X4 configuration)

The circuit breakers located in the breaker box will be rated 16A (DC) or 32A (AC)

Correction is strictly welcomed...

Thanks

the improvised design is going to work. I have personally used it on several occasions. (I didn't have the patience of waiting to see the attached picture cos of poor network here).
my worry now is the issue of 4 by 4 configuration. kindly inform us the type of Mppt controller ure using.
I pray it's the classic such that you enable the hyper voc function to protect it from once in a while 150v ➕ voc during cool weather.
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Barezzi(m): 11:48pm On Apr 28, 2018
Add a surge protection device.
4S4P? I'm sure you've done your homework.

For up to 250v voc, consider the Victron Energy Smartsolar 250/100 CC.

No reason why it would not work - the diagram attached looks more like you are using two separate combiner boxes though - one for the positive side of the string and the other for the negative side or perhaps it is one huge box.

For me breaking the positive connection and using a common bar for all the neutral connections is sufficient although one may argue there is still some voltage potential on the negative side when you trip the positive breaker.

You really do not want to use an AC rated breaker in a DC application no matter how oversized the AC breaker is relative to the DC load - while it may work you just never know when the breaker will fail to extinguish the DC arc and cause a fire.

The 4 panels in series comment jumped out at everyone - be sure to know that your CC can safely handle the high voltage as DC overvoltage is the quickest way to destroy a CC - my MorningStar CC fairly often throws the 'High Array Voltage, Current Limiting' alarm which means panel VoC went above the 115/125vdc range and this is on a 3 panels in series string using 330w panels.

Thanks Niyi

it's two separate breaker box. one for the circuit breakers and for the neutral bar

thanks for the advice on the DC/AC breaker selection...

The CC is PT-100 and has a higher Voc range of 188-240VDC.

The lower range (Vmp, not even Voc) is 73 VDC, at which the CC won't work. with 3 in series, the Vmp might be hitting the lower range

Thanks bro

I have 16, 340W Canadian solar panels on a PT100 in a 4S4P configuration.
I have never hit the high Voc range starting at 187V. The most I have seen is 172V.
4X4 configuration will definitely work. My CC wakes up very early in the morning - Sometimes before 7am. It works on cloudy days and sometimes rain.
For PT100, 4X4 is a good way to go.
