The problem is simple, most hardcore rappers don't thrive in Naija because we don't value our own, that's y most of our rappers now do commercial rap. The very few ones like MI, MODE9 that didn't change pattern are no longer relevant in our eyes..
J. Cole is good but Mode9 will give him a run for his money,,,,,,

anyways, not to talk much.
Never you underrate Nigerians, might be tribalistic, favouristic, greedy, religious bigots, what have you
BUT
we represent in virtually all facets of Life.

p.s: nigerians value hard-core rap, why not. We have many who're very meticulous listening and read between the lines of the lyrics, little wonder they left jcole stunned and made the black Americans look stupid.
hardcore rappers back here should step up, we've got a few trying already, kudos to them and we love our own.

True and to be honest when they were rapping they weren't that great and used to make me cringe with their fake accents. We are busy building our own genre and getting it accepted worldwide. Americans and Jamaicans don't desert their genres in favour of someone else's and neither should we.

that's true but I still don't understand why wizkid liked talking about girls bumbum, love and stuff..no motivational stuff here.

True, but it's the same with the US artists and don't even start with Jamaican dancehall and sexual lyrics lol
If it's not sex or love it's violence they talk about. The beats are sick though so fans love it.
It's more a reflection on listeners than the artists. Wizkid has a few motivational tracks, we just don't make them hits so artists stick to what makes more money.

Everyone else follows what they feel will make money guaranteed, which is why someone that has never been to Ghana will be talking about Shito, kenke, waatche and trying to add Twi to their song. They feel it's part of the formula to make a hit song currently. It's sooooo annoying.

We have to remember too that most of not all the biggest afrobeats acts are actually under 28 years old.
Can't blame them really. We the fans can change the game if we really wanted to.
