Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has reacted to the verification exercise conducted on Saturday in Kogi West, to recall Senator Dino Melaye.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Saturday, conducted a verification exercise in 552 out of the 560 polling units in the seven local government areas that make up Kogi West.

Despite the fact that Melaye was being admitted at the intensive care unit of the National Hospital and also placed on arrest by the Nigerian Police; the exercise in Kogi West was said to have witnessed a low turnout.

Aside the apathy that marred the exercise, officials of INEC were also said to have witnessed protests from electorate in some council areas, who said they were surprised to find their names and purported signatures on the said recall register.

As at the close of the exercise on Saturday, no polling unit was said to have recorded 50 per cent verified signatures of the total names on the register.

Reacting to the seemingly failed exercise, Hon. Faleke, who was the deputy to the Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2016 election in Kogi, late Abubakar Audu; carpeted Governor Yahaha Bello of not being popular in Kogi state.

Faleke, who took to his verified Twitter handle, wrote, “The recall project has failed. The people won. The outcome today is not just about Dino but the open rejection of the Yahaha Bello led state government.

“Even in detention, @dino_melaye defeated them. Clear sign that Yahaha Bello is very unpopular in Kogi state”.

All the BELLO I know are quite interesting to be with BUT this YAHAYA Bello is just an exception and not worthy to be a Manager in a Mini company talk less of been a GOV. in a state.

The truth is that people don't really like Dino, but the hate they have for Bello is worst.

Bello didn't play his game well. In fact Bello's tactics shows he is not a politician, he just wasted a rare opportunity given to him.

He is owning salary to an extent that he has been sued and he is not remorseful at all, even Osun de show some concern to the people, Ekiti too

A smart politician would have waited for the best time to strike, people like Tinubu are good at this.

bro their are politicians you can trust, I knw of state legislature that served for 8yrs in my state dats Niger state his name is isah kawu he rejected over 300million frm the state government claiming during his tenure simply because he felt the state government was trying to bribe him to sell his right.he was a two time speaker..the state government had to spend over 200million to get him impeached the first time..Pls if u happen to have any in Niger state ask him or her of isah kawu or better still read abt him on Google..Pls reply me

When will INEC begin the prosecution process of the initiators of the Dino Melaye's recall petition?

How did the petitioners get the authentic VIN and names of Kogi voters without having access to INEC database and without the consent of the people (voters)? INEC database is supposed to be a confidential national asset. What this means is that INEC sells our information to people and without our consent. This is a serious national issue.

Now that we know that the sponsors and initiators of the Dino recall process forged thousands of voters signatures and had access to INEC database where they extracted VIN and names of Kogi voters without their consent, what next?

Who would investigate INEC for it's involvement in this fraud? Will INEC prosecute the initiators of the petition for forgery?

Are we going to let this pass too?

Thank you Sir...it is good that this happened NOW so that we become more vigilant as general elections come. The process is as important as the end...where are all those NGOs that support democracy and rights?...i think these people that their signatures were forged and vin collected from INEC will not be able to sue INEC,one woman even said she came out because she was told that money will be shared,do you think such a person can sue? I saw an interview Dino granted saying that people wil go to jail after the recall process...let us hope that when he gets on his feet,he will help his constituents to sue INEC and put fear into people preparing to rig 2019 elections...it is not enough to get your pvc,also be vigilant on the day of election
