A heavy clash occurred at the Chief Magistrate court, Mpape, Abuja earlier today between some lawyers and police officers over the detention of two lawyers and relatives of Senator Dino Melaye.

PoliticsNGR gathered that David Amaefula and Pius Udo-Inyang, who are of the law firm of Messrs Rickey Tarfa & Co. Abuja Office, were on Tuesday, April 24 and 25 arrested by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office Guzape after they were dispatched to the Zankli Medical Centre, Mabushi, Abuja to secure justice for Senator Melaye, who was being admitted there.

Two other persons including a cousin to Melaye and his friend were also arrested during the raid. Magistrate Zubairu on Monday granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 and one surety each in like sum, adding that the sureties must be resident in the FCT.

All hell broke loose when over 50 armed policemen deployed in the court attempted to seize placards from protesting lawyers. The over 100 lawyers in the court premises resisted the move.

The police officers then encircled the lawyers and demanded that they leave the court premises. This attracted stiff opposition from the lawyers. Watch the footage below;

Court now belongs to policemen not lawyers. Tenant asking the landlord off his premises. Only in Nigeria.

very unfortunate. this is what happens when your president is half educated. this is what you get when you employ policemen based on nepotism. Majority of the men of the NPF are not educated. many of them don't understand nada! they don't know shi.t about any law, even their own police laws, they do not know. It is ironical that many Nigerians who are in Nairaland will remain indoor when it is time to vote in 2019_ Social network politics will take us nowhere. Lawyers can do anything for money, if dey don't shout this way dey might not be able to put food on there table this evening . I am from Kogite state and Dino is guilty of this crime of running guns like wise his opponents .He wasn't just lucky that it was his boys that was caught and the governor of Kogi state is just ready to nail him down with this crime ; thank God Saraki,Dino and their cohorts planed ahead of time when he was been taken to Lokoja By causing accident for Dino to escape it would have been a clash of Titan between Dino thugs and the Nigerian police before they approach koton karfe in Kogi state. If the thugs over powered the police they will take Dino to a secret destination and den asked d government to produce Dino, that's another conspiracy for. Kogi state people had better wake up this 2019 ,enough of all this rubbish.
