Facebook new feature is already available in New Zealand and Australia as Twitter users claimed to have seen it. It's coming Nigeria and other countries very soon.

The "Downvote" button was designed to allow you give feedback of any negative, offensive and off-topic Facebook comments. This will enable Facebook team to flag or takedown the comment.

While the "Upvote" button will allow you increase the visibility of a comment on Facebook. It gives positive reaction.

See what Facebook spokesman has to say,

Our hope is that this feature will make it easier for us to create such spaces, by ranking the comments that readers believe deserve to rank highest, rather than the comments that get the strongest emotional reaction.

"

Note: This is not a dislike button but a button to cleam messy and hurtful comments on Facebook.

I think nairaland should have something similar. Downvote or dislike buttons; there are crazy and misleading comments on this forum.

Facebook formerly based on reaction to rank a comment but now the the algorithm had changed to "Upvote".


For Nairaland, comments can't rank higher.
