Innocent people killed.
If these happened in the north now, we would have seen our brothers down south screaming that NYSC should be scrapped.

Ok

Where are the dilapidated structures

The fallen structure is make-shift camp or looks like Mami market where they sell stuffs.Any temporary structure can give way to the wind depending on it's ferocity.

You sounded as if it's the red roof bungalow that was damaged

it's the pavilion where corpers have lectures, not mammy or a temporary structure, just imagine the number of casualties if this happened when lectures were going on

Very stupid camp, I swear.
Was there few weeks back and was surprised to see how dilapidated the place is. It's not even fenced and it looks like an abandoned secondary school.

Really unfortunate how Nigerians have chosen to live like animals. In 2018,with our wealth, people live in very uninhabitable environment due to wickedness and selfishness of people in position.Even in cities, you see dirt everywhere with offensive odour yet people enjoy and live comfortably around such places.

I might not have seen a permanent structure destroyed, but were you able to ask yourself whether those were the bathrooms being used by corps members

So with all the news of soon to be commissioned permanent site for NYSC orientation in Edo state, things remained the same since my time in 2015.

Not a bit of change at all!
God help Nigeria

and the rain was just too much in Benin City today

the worse part of it now is that for five days we won't see light from Bedc
don't know if this people are using fire wood to generate electricity maybe when it rained the fire wood get soaked and it takes days to get dried before light is restored

There was light at BDPA,GRA and Sapele road. Which area is that if I may ask?

I knew this Pavilion would collapse. Because of the money they are making through NYSC they don't want to relocate to the permanent site opposite Igbinedion University. Nosa Ogbogodo na thief e dey chop money with this temporary Camp.

Wow! You don't mean it? shocked same Edo state I chose as second choice 2 years ago....kaaii Baba God thank You for blessing me with Oyo state ooo! Oyo state camp felt like home to me...After Ogun state camp, Oyo state is next! The camp make brain like!!! I'll serve there over and over again....I miss my NYSC days o!

Hopefully Edo state Government will look into this and take a serious stand this time by building a better camp for the state, this is an eyesore.
right now Isheyin camp is the best, I camped there last year May. Really made sense compare to the state of other camps... Good food and all.

Delta camp was more preferable but the skirt and blouse insects do their worst too..same time. batch b stream 1,2015...
I think NYSC should inspect camps across Nigeria before posting peoples children to these maximum prisons...

That camp is nothing to write home about I was batch B 2016.its not Nosa's fault what can he do if the state government is not ready to complete the permanent orientation camp?
He was my LGI cos I served in Okada for a while.it was his duty to prepare the camp for use since he's more like the host. He tried his best but who no like money? grin tongue

It was just a matter of time before the dilapidated and deteriorated structures at the Nysc camp, Okada, edo state crumble,
The corpers are always victims of the appaling and unfavorable living conditions, right from the first day the stench of the pit latrine like an abandoned abattoir is enough to contract a kinds of communicable and non communicable diseases. The annoying part of the orientation is when the corrupt officials give the corpers a false hope of a permanent orientation camp that would never be accessible to the present corpers.
The sorry state of things is no only limited to the hostels but the food, the environment and even security, as there are many entrances and exits, and corpers can be easily attacked by well coordinated bandits

Today the pavilion collapsed on many Corpers and they have been rushed to the hospital, as the camp lacks basiv medical facilities or any Doctor to cater for corpees, many structures at the mammy market were destroyed as well and some Corpers injured are in critical states

NYSC, APC, Buhari and Nigeria has outlived their usefulness.

Honestly, this is hell of a camp.
I was there in June 2013, as a 13B corps member
So disheartening nothing has changed

I camped there in 2016 A stream 2 and served in that town. Everyone should be blamed. From the state govt to the NYSC officials.
He was my LGI too, people like him won't pray that the permanent site see the light of the day. If that permanent site is opened that camp would be one of the best.
I feel pity for the corpers especially during this raining season. I camped there during raining season so, I knew how terrible the camp is.

Op softly lie now

This is mami market and it's most definitely the dry cleaners part. I was at the obs block close to the clinic/kitchen side and I know all the structure. 14c here. The pavilion is not in this picture, though it's also not a solid structure. But this is the mami mrkt side. Fear apolo and pneumonia due to the overcrowding, poor sanitation, no water.
I miss the backyard to town at the back of boys hostel. (the damage barb wire) . Sweet destination to shit better shit with less fear especially for night.. Man can not come and carry infection from the unclean toilet. Try pay those small boys around to help you with cleaning up and fetch water...
My room is close to the obs room, stayed indoor through out the boring lectures ...coded.. Lol. Crazy experience

My son was in this make shift hall today ooh!! I just can't thank God enough.

He kept complaining about the pit toilet, grasses every where, the food and the dirty environment .

I thought he was over exergurating the situation , owing to fact that i practically begged him to come back and serve.
No exaggeration, that place is a mess. I was in the camp November/December last year. Only God knows the damage the stench coming from the pit latrines did to some of us. The bathrooms, toilet, food, environment are not things one would want to reminisce on.
