1. Currency swap deal is to facilitate commerce. Commerce involves what Nigeria will opt for including areas of manufacturing (Machines), Agriculture, Energy etc. It is not just about dumping Chinese products here.

2. Why should we swap with Japan at the moment when the Japanese equivalent of People’s Bank of China (PBOC) is not making (& does not have the financial muscle) to make the kind of offer China is making?. What is the volume of commerce between Nigeria & Germany or Australia? Do you think you just enter bilateral agreement because of country's fancy names? Has America given us the kind of offer China is giving us and we refused? We should not overrate our present condition and think we should get "better deals" when we currently are simply trying to improve our "barging grounds"

I understand your concern but I will ask you one question, why is China the largest US trade partner? Why not the countries you mentioned? Also, your iPhones and other top US products are produced in China, US government put in place good quality control measures, Nigeria can do the same. By the way, the U.S increase taxes on imported Steel and Aluminium from most nations, not just China. The European Union was exempted last week till 1st of June. Its a strategy to cut trade deficit between US and other nations, however, because China is the U.S. largest trading partner hence the reason people think it will affect China the most but for people like us we know that is a lie, China only exports 6 percent of its steel and aluminium to US. But can make Donald Trump lose next election by increasing export taxes on Soybeans and other agric products mainly import by his red states. The very reason China was able to force US to the negotiation table this last Saturday. Nigeria can get to that point by broaden our economic reach through a deal like this.

You can't harness anything without money, Nigeria does not have the capital to broadly push those capital project hence the reason to make the economy conducive for investors by allowing multiple exchange system. All the roads opening won't amount to anything as it will rot with no patronage except local SMEs, no major corporations will travel to those remote regions without good security measures and assurance of better business environment. All these have nothing to do with the currency swap deal, however, the deal could facilitate better trade movement as most of our brothers from that region are business-oriented individuals that can merge with foreign investors to deepen economic activities in their region.
