On Sunday, May 6th, two truck loads of Fulani indigenes were intercepted at a military checkpoint at Bekwarra local government area in Cross River state. According to reports, the leader of the Fulani group revealed that they were sighted by some youths at Ogoja while coming down from the truck to buy food.

According to Idoko Simmy, the Fulanis revealed that they were coming from Kogi state and were heading to Amana Utanga in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River in order to migrate to Cameroon.

Their intention was to stop at Ogoja barracks before continuing with their journey but unfortunately they were intercepted by the youths who raised an alarm.

Youths numbering over 300 from the host community; Ogoja and beyond came in agreement and refused the Fulanis from settling there for the main time as they were escorted from Garki, to Yahe in Yala. When the people of Yahe saw what was going on, they joined in the campaign and chased them farther through the borders of Yala and Ikom.

According to reports, the Fulanis who were 96 in number - were reportedly taken back to Kogi in company of armed soldiers in order to prevent any attack from tensed youths.

Intercept their weapons and not them.

Fulani people shebi una see una sef?!... All it would have taken was for some Fulani leaders or notable Fulani figures to openly and vehemently condemn the actions and atrocities of their killer herdsmen brothers. But their criminal indifference and open defence of the marauders has sent fear down the spine of all Nigerians irrespective of tribe. With what's going on currently, no community would open it's arms to welcome a crowd of Fulanis anywhere, nobody wants to be turned to suya.

Those Fulani men clearly didn't come for a fight. That's why the locals were feeling fly "chasing" the Fulani people back. There are clearly many genuine, peaceful herdsmen, probably like these ones, that are different from the murderous bandits terrorizing many areas in the country.

it serves to teach them that they are no longer welcomed by their fellow Nigerians. The fulanis will one day unite the entire south and middle belt against them
