Imagine that. 30k for 2 shots is very pricey. Do you think i can take the vaccine much later?

Better still, if u can get the vaccine in any of these big pharmaceutical stores, that will be better it may be less expensive. The name of the vaccine dt was given to my son is rotarix.

Good. Ojuelegba is quite close to Ambode health centre at somolu where you can get it for free. I think its on Tuesdays.

Use uber/taxify if you're not going with a personal ride for comfort and ease.

its not too late to get it at 8wks. If possible after getting the first dose, stay for another 4wks in lagos to get the second dose.

U r soo lucky then. Mbok, use wth immediate alacrity get d vaccine.

don't mind them teaching hospitals and PHCs. its just so people can believe they offer free health worever.

The annoying part Is the manner the nurses say its not compulsory like 'if you want to waste your money, you can go and get it'.

One would have expected them to stock it and then at least sell at company price or very low margin.

on another thought sef, most of them cant beat their chest about their cold storage facilities.

Lolllzzz... I remembered how the mothers I met in dt general hospital were arguing n showing me the immunization cards that the vaccine is included and it's free. It was when I publicly asked the two matrons n a nurse that they believed it wasn't included. The funny thing is that they won't even talk about most of these vaccines that they don't administer and they'll discourage mothers from considering giving their los.

It's from one of the nurses that gives immunization at Amuwo- Odofin LG health center. She buys the vaccines and gives it to the baby there. I have used her several times sha, was just hoping there's a place they give it free since some of the expensive ones they give free in some health centres are not given there at all.

Many thanks for the info.
The expensive vaccines given free at some health centres are actually sponsored by private organisations though.

Uw sis. Rotavaccine 1 is taken 6 or 7 wks @ most while rotavaccine 2 is taken 8 or 9 wks @ most (based on my knowledge tho).
.

Lemme add to what you already know smiley and for the benefit of those that don't know.

One of the brand of rotavirus vaccine given in Nigeria is Rotarix made by glaxosmithkline.

2 doses of the vaccine is given. A minimum interval of 4wks is between the first and second dose.

Mininimum age for the first dose of rotavirus vaccine is 6wks just as you stated while the maximum age for taking the second dose is 8months.

It is a vaccine that helps in preventing severe diarrhea in babies. Even if the baby happens to suffer diarrhea after getting the vaccine, it can be better managed.

modified:
Just learnt that the other brand of rotavirus vaccine Rotateq made by merck vaccines is also available in Nigeria and is given in 3 doses.

Have you tried taking fenugreek?

I hear it's very effective. Also feed him as much as possible from the breasts to encourage more milk let down. The more you breastfeed the more milk your breast produce. And always stay hydrated. I wish you well.

Thank you ma'am

I haven't tried Fenugreek yet. I will feed from the breast more often and I drink more than 4 big Eva bottles daily. I ll increase it

Story of my life
Took everything too, even lactating cookies and granola and didn't get the result I wanted (except fenugreek).. maybe you should try fenugreek like the other mama adviced cus that's the only thing I didn't take

What I've been doing is drink a lot of water and pap
And most importantly, have rest of mind, sleep when LO is sleeping and always put LO to breast, if you feel he isn't getting enough substitute with formula please

Also try to BF at night cus thats when production is high.
Think it helped me too

It will get better
I also planned to EBF but it didn't happen for me
And yes I still substitute with formula
Don't beat yourself up, it will get better with time

Thank you ma'am

Pls how many times on the average do you breastfeed at night? I breastfeed twice between 11pm and 5am.

Try not to worry, easier said than done, I know. You just might be producing super sufficient milk but not know.

In my experience, the breast pump is unreliable. I'm almost 7 months into breastfeeding and I have NEVER been able to express with a manual pump, tried Mam, Medela and Philips Avent.
I then used Medela electronic pump and I have NEVER been able to get more than 2 ounces from a full breast.
I almost got into the "not producing" trap too but hunted and hunted for information on the internet.

You need to try other means of knowing if your baby is getting enough milk. Accepting formula after being breastfed is not proof enough because babies generally like to suck. And you just might be teaching baby bad hunger cues and also putting your supply journey at risk because the more baby takes, the more your body produces. Breastfeeding is demand and supply, not a storage tank.

He's just 11 days, my suggestions:
1. Ditch the formula until you are absolutely sure he's not feeding well at the breast

2. Nurse frequently, not pump, direct baby to breast. At least, every 2 hours and on demand

3. Check you baby's throat. You can totally tell when they are sucking well. When you first put them to breast, they do a quick suck motion. This is what stimulates your breast to release milk.
When the breast milk starts to flow well, you'd see them take longer and bigger swallows, sometimes you can even hear it.

4. Let your instinct guide you

Let us know how it goes and good luck mama!

Thank you ma'am
I wanted to ditch the formula but mum doing omuga will insist on formula. That the baby is staved, especially when he takes much formula after.

I will do as suggested.

P.S: I am not sure if general hospitals even have the rotavaccine (even if it's not free). To be on the safer side other mamas will tell or direct you to where you can get the vaccine.

Not really sis. Rota 1 should be taken not later than 15 weeks. Rota 2 us 4 weeks after. So i was told.

I took rota 1 at 11 weeks

Congrats to all other mamas that have delivered.

Please i have a question. I don't know if anyone is familiar with this CT pelvimetry that is done for ftm. I did mine last week and it shows pelvic inlet is 11.9cm while the normal gap should be 13.5cm (all other parameters normal/above). I've met a Doctor and he said I still have a chance at VD but that if progress is slow, they'd go for CS. Explained that the inlet is not too small for baby but they can't take chance of too long delivery not been sure of if baby is coming through or not. My aunt is suggesting I go straight to CS instead of VD and risking ECS. I hope to see another Doctor (still same hospital) at next ANC for another opinion.

I'm about 5" 3 or so. I know some people say height matters sometimes. Baby's size is also normal, scan EDD is exact as LMP.

is anyone familiar with this , experienced it or know someone that can comment on it? I want to really understand it better and what the odds are to save myself myself from VD and then ECS. I had really hoped for VD for my Children. I guess if I go for CS now, it means all other children would also be CS.

I don't have idea of how the pelvimetry is read.
I was asked to do a pelvimetry as well, I'm 5'4
But I didn't do it cause from what I gathered from doctor Google, a pelvimetry is not an accurate determinant of a woman's chances of VD cause the pelvis expands when labour comes.
I had a VD, altho I had a small baby
Think you should seek a 2nd opinion to be sure

The vaccines given by teaching hospitals are given to them free by NGOs like UNICEF, USAID etc. All the ones they don't give is because they are expensive and they cannot/will not buy. They have now added jara to their bad behaviour by telling people the additional vaccines are a waste of money, instead of advising people appropriately

Ar
some provide it at a cost so was surprised when I went to the one here.

I am 8months+ post-partum and I still release gas through my vagina. Pls how do I rectify this and what are the implications and how do I prevent this in future births.

Has anyone experienced this? Did it later stop? How did you go about it?

All mamas please help throw in a word or two

I didn't o! But my younger sister did and it really affected her self esteem.

Hers went away with constant sitting on wooden stool with her legs closed. Can't remember how long it took sha.

You should try it! And just tell yourself it's part of the price you paid for your baby cos it can be Soo upsetting and embarrassing.

All the best.

Prevention... Sit with your legs closed immediately after birth and don't sit on sofas.

Take a chill pill mama.

There are many possibilities...
Mamas online may not have a good answer to your question.

There is a search bar at the top of the page to help with your queries cos the probability that your question has been answered before is quite high

Mamas that answer questions do it out of love and care.

I could go on and on....

Good day mamas, pls how do I make my seven months old ebf baby to eat? He doesn't accept any other thing apart from breast.

Getting a 7months old baby to eat other kinds of food apart from taking milk can be a huge task at times.
You have to wear patience like wrapper and blouse to do it successfully. Some babies carry their picky eating style till 1/2yrs sef.

What kind of foods have you introduced.?

Try and start with soft foods such as pap, fruit(apple/banana) purees, oats etc.
You can also try age appropriate cereals such as heinz, cerelac, gerber and the likes.

please note that your baby does not have to eat a big bowl of food. Up to 4 teaspoons of food is ok as their stomach is still quite small.

giving food to less than a year old is complimentary feeding, so milk is still their main meal. You can also introduce formula and get someone else to feed him.

I don't have answers to your question but I think you should make use of the search option. Sometimes a question has been treated sevearally and other times one is not sure of the best response.

Just search baby food or formula or weaning or puree or such similar words. You'd come across previous discussions.

It's not easy for mamas answering same questions every 2/3 weeks. I give kudos to mamas that take out time to respond.

Thanks for replying me kiss

Not open to only salary earners, it's only common with salary earners because employers pay the whole or part of the premium.
.it's an health insurance program. You pay something regularly to them and they'd cover your medical bills. You can approach anyone of them for further details.

Mind you, there are different packages dependent on how much you pay so ask to know the benefit of your proposed package so no surprises at the hospital. They also have their own hospital list that you'd pick from depending on your premium/package.

A woman told me that it occurs as a result of one not closing her legs and sitting on hard surface immediately after childbirth.

Try as much as possible not to open your legs too wide while sitting.
Whenever you feel like you are about to pass gas through your vee when inside your house, raise one of your bum up and the gas will pass through the anus. Eventually, It will stop. Just take your mind off it.

Don't be worried as far as, it is not fistula but this also can be corrected.
