Clueless mumuhary. Whatever the old foool touches turns to failure. Idiotic snakes of Sudan hailing him already don't even realize the impact this will have on the economy. Just hailing zombiecally.

Good one by the inept government.

We need to know the exchange rate.

Will there be a law binding on the Chinese to produce at least 60percent of the commodities they trade on with Nigeria in Nigeria, if not, it is a chase after the wind, because if it is more lucrative for them to produce in their home country and smuggle in, they would do just that.

The most laughable part is saying that Nigeria is already exporting to China and the deal will further open export market to China. Of course it will, but it is only digging our own grave knowing we are just exporting primary products and that is never competitive in the present world. They would buy those primary products and turn them into finished goods and find a way of sending it into the Nigerian market since demand is always high in it.

Let's hope it turns out well, the same way I don't trust the chinese is how I don't trust the Europeans and Americans, one have to be clever when dealing with them!

The Mumu government of Buhari ought to have sealed this deal since 2015 but rather let it lie fallow only to wake up now that election is drawing nearer in order to score some cheap points but now this is too late. I think the strengthening of the Naira aspect and not making Nogeria a dumping ground for unnecessary Chinese goods should be applauded but the big question is, with a weak economy that still consumes more than what it produces and also with a very low output in capital projects I don't see how Nigeria will still not be a dumping ground under this crises-ridden government of mumuhary. Yeye thing
Do you think to finalize bilateral deals is like asking a woman out? It will take the UK two years to negotiate their Brexit divorce. Do you know how many years it took to negotiate the Iran nuclear deal? Bilateral negotiation is complex and detailed. So appropriate negotiations are required before ratifying it

Currency swap is good since it provides liquidity to International investors. Basically since you no longer have to get dollars it makes it easier to trade. The other benefit is lowering exchange rate risk. I thought this program started years ago but it was in negotiations.

Nigeria should seek more bilateral agreements like this one. UK seems to be similar mood since its leaving EU. Lastly the banned list isn't useful since it doesnt address funmebtal issues with producing those items.

I think this is 1 of my 3 threads on this. I checked your profile "Nairaland Economist" before I posted this but I see a long last seen. I was expecting to see a thread of yours analysing the swap deal.

The swap deal was officially signed this month. What you heard last 3 years are negotiations. The framework will be released next week.
