How much bleaching agents did she use to get there that mention by Amanpour. That is probably what inspire all Nigerians to go on bleaching spree.

Lupita Nyongo black as soot - is way better actress with a OSCAR AWARD for that. People recognize frauds from far - because you self-esteem disguised as pride is just all over you.

Yeah I have been wondering why Nigeria look light - yet geographically and genetically - they should be black - now I know. I mean South African are naturally light - and north africans too - but suddenly in the middle of congo & niger forests - everyone turns light skin - after injesting dangerous chemicals.

You guys need national therapy.. You never get the respect or amount to anything until you do that. When you can look at your natural black color and feel happy about it - then you'll start to crawl out of the mess you're in. Otherwise you'll keep running out of the country and out of your behind..only to find nobody wants or love you.

Why are some black Americans light... Afterall they were taking from west africa with a substanitial amount from Nigeria

Truth is yes people bleach but naturally Nigeria has light-skinned(some very light skinned) and darkskin people. Nigeria is a mix of skin tones.

Some ethnic groups in Nigeria though are renowned for their light skin such as the igbos and fulanis

And what makes you think after Kenyan independence from British - they remained to build our towns and cities - or industries or name it. Our first business in 1963 after our independence was to kick out whites from farms (more than 1M acres), rename anything they had named, africanize the civil services, the business and economy. This we achieved before 1970!!. Kenyan economy now is predominantly Africa - yeah we got a few 80K indians, 50k arabs and 20K whites - who are kenyans or residence - and we have no problem with them. Kenya is welcoming, modern and hospital country. The last two US ambassadors to Kenya choose to remain here.

Nigeria you never even did the basics - stuff like names are as important as bleaching. They don't cost anything but they are important in building a dignified proud nation. Start by stopping the bleaching menace, rename port harcourt , lagos and whatever else still carries brutal memories of colonialism and slavery. And you'll start building a nation.

How come South Africa has Port Elizabeth or why America has New York(named after a place in England)... It's not necessary to change names. Today the Lagos of Nigeria is more popular than the Lagos in Portugal. New York is more popular than York in England...

Even Nigerians know they needed this tour more than everyone on the continent but no one said life is fair.

Gosh, how many songs did Sauti Sol have to pay Nigerian artists to feature in?

The other day Davido was in Suriname(South American country) and his show was sold out

Having a high literacy rate is good, but not alone. It has to be accompanied by some other prevailing factors and you comprehend what Zim under Uncle has been through. You on the other hand have a very low literacy level, like Madagascar but then you have no valid external reason for being so illiterate

Seems like u can read but can't comprehend..

BTW, that ur line on uncle Bob is quite funny..its something I keep asking my Zim friends(I got a lot of them through WhatsApp football groups grin) why despite claiming to be the most literate in Africa would allow one man to rule then for three decades? grin ...

If Nigeria data was credible - then it would cross-reference with consumption/expenditure data - and such indicators of progress or middle class. I have given you a good example. South Africa. Nigeria claims to have large middle class than South Africa - which is moronic - but show me where that middle class lives, works, schools, shops, eats, drive and etc. You cannot hide wealth. And also if gov is so disfuctional as not to provide you with electricity, good roads and other such amenities - then calling yourself middle-class is a little rich.

So there are many indicators to look at.
1) Malls - You expect middle class to attracts mall developers - Nigeria's Lagos has less than 200K mall spaces (give and take entire Nigeria has 1M) - compared to South Africa's total of 23M! Nigeria I think has half kenya's formal retail penetration - so that Nigeria middle class only exists in CBN stats office books.
2) Private schools - show me those?

We can go on and on - but we need EMPERICAL data outside CBN cooked national accounts that we can use to verify and cross-reference anything that comes of Nigeria as figures.

It's true Kenya had a head start on building modern retail space, no doubt. Modern retail space is fairly nascent in Nigeria

Here's an article from MCkinsey: https://www.mckinsey.com/business-functions/marketing-and-sales/our-insights/africas-growing-giant-nigerias-new-retail-economy

And another one from euromonitor: http://www.euromonitor.com/grocery-retailers-in-nigeria/report

Modern retail space has been booming in Nigeria recently with Nigeria's formal retail space more than doubling recently...
In no time Nigeria will catch up, giving its huge population

8 years ago a middle class Nigerian would have probably went to the local market or some poor quality building to buy his necessities. To go to malls, he would have to travel far distances go to the nearest mall or travel abroad

Today the dynamics have changed. The middle class Nigerian has options with more and more malls being built around him. He has stores now like shoprite, spar, game, and others to choose from. Now Nigerian indigenous investors are seeing the opportunities and expanding rapidly. Nigeria has its own version of Sam's Club now(NEXT)

Neighborhood malls and stores are also fast becoming a trend these days

What's fascinating is that investors are not only interested in Lagos and Abuja, they also see the middle class outside Lagos and Abuja and are rapidly expanding into 2nd tier cities in Nigeria as well

Don't see why formal retail space is recently booming in Nigeria if there isn't a substantial middle class...

BTW the the two rivers mall is about to get beat by a mall in Eko Atlantic. The eko mall will be about twice the size of the Kenyan mall.

I do admit though retail growth was a bit shaky during the 2yr recession(as to be expected) but things are looking positive again

Nigeria tops in 10 most stressed countries list

Nigeria and its citizens have shot up to the top of countries with the most stress according to a research that was carried out by Bloomberg.

Nigeria has created another milestone as she comes out as the top most stressed country in the world for 2016 and 2017, according to a research carried out by Bloomberg.

In the research which was meant to find out how stress affects citizens of different countries, Nigeria was voted as the number one country where residents are stressed out.

Researchers analyzed different variables in 74 countries including annual homicide rate, GDP per capita, insecurity, income inequality, corruption, unemployment, health care quality, crime rate, suicide rate and air pollution and typically, Nigeria was not found wanting as it dusted countries like South Africa, Bolivia, Pakistan, Colombia, and others.

1. Nigeria

Nigeria ranks as number one on the list the top 10 most stressed countries in the world. InsideMonkey.com describes Nigeria thus:

'as the eighth most populous country in the world, Nigeria has mass poverty and unemployment with more than 60 percent living below the poverty line. Up to five million Nigerians live with HIV or AIDS.

In addition to the myriads of problems Nigeria is faced with, the citizens face an extreme religious conflict between Muslims and Christians, mass deforestation and water pollution.'

However, they also failed to point out that Nigeria is also bedeviled with crime, insecurity, Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen attack, and a highly corrupt government and its officials who only look out for themselves.

2. South Africa

As in every other thing, South Africa has refused to let Nigeria take the shine off them as they come in second on the list. Time.com reports that until 1994 when it got its independence, apartheid rule caused mass stress across South Africa.

But with democracy now thriving, tensions between the black and white populations still exist.

The economy declined in 2009 and South Africa is still dealing with mass unemployment and substantial poverty. There is also xenophobic attacks by citizens on fellow blacks from other countries whom they accuse of taking their jobs and constituting nuisances in their country.

A study in 2011 showed that 64 percent of South African women feel stressed most of the time.

3. El Salvador

The nation faces problems with violence, poverty, immigration and human rights. So much so that more and more El Salvadorians emigrate every day to escape the stress, troubles, and danger of their daily lives.

4. Mongolia

Mongolians live with high poverty levels and overpopulation. Plus their country now has high levels of air pollution and the rates of suicide have dramatically increased.

5. Guatemala

Income inequality between rich and poor continues to grow in the Central American country of Guatemala.

The research shows that Guatemalans have been witnesses to extreme violence, gangs and drug trafficking throughout the country’s recent history which has caused so much stress for the citizens.

6. Colombia

Colombia has been struggling with high crime rates, drug trafficking, gang wars, murder and extreme poverty.

InsiderMonkey.com wrote that the problems the country faces have affected 46 percent of the total population, with 64 living in rural areas.

7. Pakistan

Pakistanis have had to face political instability, terrorism and widespread poverty which has led to the soaring stress befalling the citizens.

The research states that poverty has increased from 30 to 40 percent over the last ten years and it does not look like it will end soon with the war going on in the Middle East also contributing to it.

8. Jamaica

Jamaica has always been known to have a high-level crime rate, drug trafficking, and gang wars but in the last few years, these vices have grown to higher proportions, leading to stress for its citizens.

Peace has eluded the Island Caribbean country for years and it currently has one of the highest murder rates in the world.

9. Macedonia

Macedonia has a black eye when it comes to human rights, specifically when it comes to race and ethnic discrimination. The country also has big problems with domestic abuse and sex trafficking.

10. Bolivia

Bolivia has a history of turbulence, poverty, drug trafficking and murder, with the crime rate rising every other day.

InsiderMonkey.com wrote: 'with a population of more than 10.67 million people, 64 percent of Bolivians live below the poverty line.

Add to that is Bolivia’s unsteady government. The country’s constitution has been rewritten numerous times and its people have lived through nearly 200 government overthrows.

Ranking of countries with best infrastructure in 2017

Quality of infrastructure: countries with best infrastructure 2017 The graph shows a ranking of countries according to the quality of their infrastructure in 2017. Switzerland is the global leader in overall infrastructure with a value of 6.6 on a scale of 1 to 7. The scale ranges from 1 = underdeveloped and 7 = extensively by international standards. The United States were on twelfth rank. Between 2008 and 2013 U.S. expenditures for infrastructure totaled to 2.4 percent of the GDP.
Additional information on global infrastructure quality

Well functioning infrastructure is a cornerstone of a modern society. As well as serving an important role in facilitating business transitions, infrastructure increases a country’s efficiency and improves the standard of living of its citizens. As such there is a positive correlation between the gross domestic product of countries and their infrastructure quality with the two sharing a cyclical relationship. Economic growth allows for additional infrastructure investment while infrastructure is a necessary component in improving economic conditions.

Infrastructure comes in various forms depending on what is required by the society in question. Transport, energy, communications, water, waste and defense are all examples of sectors requiring significant infrastructure in order to operate effectively and efficiently. Transport infrastructure is typically the most discussed form of infrastructure and a primary focus of resources, in part because it has a direct effect on the lives of citizens that is both tangible and visible. Moreover, countries well equipped with roads, rail and port facilities are better positioned to gain from trade domestically and internationally. Singapore and Hong Kong are both examples of countries who have taken a competitive advantage from their geographic location in terms of trade facilitation. Therefore is it no surprise that both are in the top five largest ports worldwide by cargo turnover while also taking the top two spots in global infrastructure quality.

Obviously, as the needs of societies change so do their infrastructure needs. The importance of transport and energy infrastructure is reflected in the investment strategy of the United Kingdom with future investment being heavily geared towards these two sectors. However, an entirely new area of infrastructure is becoming a requirement as societies continue to increase their use of internet and cloud based technologies.

Moreover, infrastructure also requires upkeep and improvement as time goes on. In recent years the issue of infrastructure decay has been raised in the United States. Criticism has been directed at the short-sightedness of governments in delaying necessary infrastructure refurbishments. Critics are concerned with the stagnation or decline in spending across a number of infrastructure based sectors, including construction, at a time when a number of projects are due for renewal.

Yes there are some with white admixture no doubt but facts remain that even before the modern creation of Nigeria there were accounts of lightkskinned igbos who were to be slaves.

Search it up. The igbos were recognized by their light skin. It probably has to do with the igbos coming from a heavily forested region.

So what, it was the indian diaspora that helped develop India's ict sector that's well renowned today. Diaspora has helped several nations including America develop.

But if you want to go with that viewpoint,

l stayed most of my life in Warri and Benin, both are not major cities in Nigeria but have some private schools like the ones you posted too and many others. Standard private schools for the middle class are spread across Nigeria in majority of cities. Some are also built by Churches and they are expensive.
Truly the middle class of Nigeria is widespread.

You need to travel a lot more - I think outside South Africa - Kenya elite schools are probably sub-saharan bests. The schools you've have there are 3rd or 4th tier box-shaped schools you'll find in kenya meant to host lot of pupils. Kenya elite schools have everything including airstrips, golf course and such facilities.

Kenya schools top Africa school fees chart - beating many developed countries.

Let start with Brookhouse with victorian look - designed like the Hogwarths in the Harry Potter movies -by Kenyan architects. This school is worth nearly 15Billion Naira. It boast some of world class facilities and sit on expansive land in Nairobi's Karen. Kenya last presidential debate were held in the school auditorium.

Is it me or those picture i posted do not look wack. This is coming from a person who has schooled in America. Those pictures are not even pictures i would dream that a 3rd world country like Nigeria would have.

The schools look lovely(on any standard) and are quite the expense. Ultimately i would like more public schools in Nigeria to look like those private schools i posted

Let's see private schools in Kenya shall we?

Again you don't follow your arguements, we are talking of having many private schools for the middle class. List your top ten private schools outside Nairobi and Mombassa, that can be paid for by those who receive at least 500 thousand shillings anually ( 1.5 million naira), and compare them to those in Nigeria outside Lagos and Abuja, or even PortHarcourt( to be fair in our arguements), you'll see what nwoke is talking about.
This thread is not worth it because we just building your ego by making you feel you can compete with Nigeria. l only do this for the sake of discussion and the moments l take a break from my work/activities.

Ohoo boy - you're like a yello that can't be pin on the wall - you or someone else started posting really shitty private international elite schools and before I am even done with the first one - you're now shifting the debate. Like I have told you outside of South Africa - Kenya private schools are sub-saharan Africa best. Now you want us to exclude Nairobi & Mombasa...fair enough.

Some of best private schools in Kenya and Africa outside Nairobi & Mombasa include
1) Rift Valley Academy - I have seen it ranked no 1 or 2 in Africa.
2) St Andrew Turin Molo -

I can go on and on but you''ll shift the debate. Nigeria outside it's cooked GDP has NOTHING on Kenya - not on infrastructures, not on public facilities, not on malls & supermarkets, not on anything I can think about!

There you go with racism - kenya has whites who call it home either permenatenly or temporarily. It no wonder Nigeria is that backward. The school is in kenya - right - and Kenyans can be admitted. Anyway next St Andrew Turin - this one of best boarding school in east and central africas - well outside South Africa. It set on expansive land in rift valley - with golf courses, airstrips and name it.

It appears Nigeria is so bad it didn't rank.
I tell you he is an illiterate. He just searches the internet for negative things without reading it first. There was another stupid Nigerian arguing blindly on university ranking.

I was here when it was on page 100 and now almost 2500.
Conclusion Kenya is not a small country.if it was that small Nigerians would have finished them with ten pages only.
