on going erosion control sites in Anaocha, Njikoka
Solid erosion control work! One hopes the control is taken all the way to the valley. Any exposed soil will probably leach and eventually develop into an erosion with subsequent rains and speed of runoff water over the bare land surface. Unless they plant trees and grasses on the remaining land not covered by concrete is covered with trees to hold the soil firmly.

I want this chameleon in our mist to be put on the spotlight. Who knows what his real purpose in the east really is? a Yoruba man typically doesn't come to the east to sell provisions like Yyeske does.

Go unveil your ancestors first because you've not told us how St Michael's church street and St John's street are adjacent to each other. Funny enough, Odume layout Obosi doesn't extend to the place. Pathetic liar who thinks I can fall for his game forgetting that I'm an old hand here.
Just see how I played with your brain as if we were playing chess and you fell into my trap by agreeing to one imaginary St John's street adjacent to your imaginary St Michael's church street all with names of imaginary people.
Damn liar, don't dance with me again.

I love this.

If our people keep it up and make an appealing environment with trees and flowers just as in the picture, before long we would achieve the same type of environmental ambiance as Europe in all our cities.

That is the only difference folks have been hammering that we should always accompany physical development with beautification of the environment to make the beauty complete.
Urban planning and enforcement is what creates attractive cities. Attractive cities attract massive investment and productive people. Rubbish cities attract criminals and deter investment.

I lived in New York during the Giuliani era when he was being criticized for his heavy handedness on public order. I used to walk through Times Square. It used to harbor prostitutes, drug addicts and petty criminals. The place stank of urine. Used condoms littered the streets and syringes. Buildings were defaced with graffiti. The man pushed all of them out. Cleaned the place up. Then corporations moved in and started redeveloping the area. Today, millions of people visit Times Square and it's adorned with electronic billboards instead of graffiti while food kiosks, souvenir shops have replaced hoes and peep shows. New York elevated itself.

The Nigerian government have abandoned their duty for long. They have allowed idiots to invade cities and build all sorts of primitive rubbish in cities like some of the petrol stations built in residential buildings or shacks attached to walls along roads or all those barrow hawkers.

These enemies of progress will plead poverty or persecution. But smart leaders see the bigger picture and Lagos is blessed with such because when it started sweeping up roads, replacing all the people who used to sleep under bridges with grass, enforcing the law what happened? People started investing massively in Lagos. Ambode leveled Oshodi market and is redeveloping the airport road. Watch the kind of buildings that will spring up in that area.

For ANSG I am hoping they wake up to the importance of urbanization. Anambra is the second most highly urbanized state after Lagos. Its cities are supposed to be sophisticated not comprised of millions of 10x10 shops and primitive shacks. Clean up Onitsha and you would see regional offices of large multinationals with presence there. You would see associated service providers like insurance, banking, accounting, logistics expanding.

Connect the cities with roads and you will spur massive residential and commercial construction boom. Build state roads and you boost intra state trade. At the end it's the hand of government that is the difference between an India and a China, a Malaysia and a Nigeria.

Mktinsight Anambra under the guidance of Obiano is getting it right now. It was under the clueless govt of peter obi that people became emboldened to build illegal structures in anambra cities and towns because obi was more interested in stealing anambra monies. It was under obi that the abada market at the river niger banks was erected. The illegal market opposite eckankar near barracks was also erected under the nose of the thief we had as governor. All that is changing now. From angust 1, sweeping demolitions of illegal structures along the riverfront in onitsha will commence. The abada market will be pulled down and relocated to the new market at oba. Lots of abakaliki and wawa street hawkers defacing our cities will be rounded up and deported back to their states of origin. A sweeping change will be experienced in our state in the next 4 years that by the time Obiano is through, you won't recognize Onitsha and Awka anymore.

Please whoever is investing his millions in those 2 x 2 shops in Umunze in this age should be made to stop. Government should wade in and stop him from defacing the area. It is an insult on the psyche of Anambra ppl in this time and age to trade in such atmosphere. Why do we live in apartments with conveniences attached to it unlike in the past where we have kitchens and toilets built separately from the main house? Juxtapose this with the shops where you spend 10hours of your time everyday chasing paper and you are taking us decades back to this hellhole kind of arrangement. In this regard they should visit Owerri and take a cue from Okorocha kind of malls that he is building to replace this disorder and inconvenient arrangement that we are used to. What ever item you chose to deal in, what can those tiny shops contain? The new international shoe market built this same archaic way in Ogbunike who is using it? The concrete eyesore at the foot of the Niger bridge by the right approaching from Asaba of what adequate use has it been put to? Please , Chino and all those who care and are equally concerned like I do who can easily reach out to the state government under the able leadership of Governor Willie Obiano should act urgently to stop the misguided investor(s).
Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by BeijinDossier:
There's totally nothing wrong with the shops being built at Umunze. Umunze is not an urban centre yet, so you have to build what can be afforded by the people there.

Show me any community in Igbo land that is at same level with Umunze that can even boast of this level of shopping stalls that is being built at Umunze? Even the town you mentioned as a case study does not have a decent market yet like Umunze is about to get.

Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by BeijinDossier:
This is a modern market at outskirts of Awka, at Enugu-Agidi precisely. I think they are still doing some finishing works and landscaping now though Businessmen in Awka have bought spaces already because they are aware of their relocation. And others that were affected by the demolitions in Awka are equally taking up spaces in the new market.

This market comes with police station, fire station, clinic, warehouse, etc.

Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by BeijinDossier: 9:42am On May 28, 2018
This is a welcome development. When you put infrastructure and security, investors will naturally come in. This is just one out of the thousands of investors scrambling to have a grip in Anambra.

So much white collar jobs running into thousands have been created in Onitsha and Awka by the private sectors in the last 3yrs.

Kudos to the government in power here in Anambra.

GOD BLESS the light of the entire black race- United State of Anambra(USA)
