In those earlier days, people knew only about Mini SIMs or what they normally regard to as standard SIM card that measures 25mm X 15mm in length and breadth, without actually knowing that advance in technology will quickly tilt away from standard SIM to smaller SIM sizes, in similar manner technology also tilted away from the then standard external SD cards to what we have everywhere now as micro SD cards.

And as you have it, the era of mini or standard SIM cards for smartphones is quickly getting behind us as we move in the direction of smaller but mightier SIMs.

In 2014, Tecno and Infinix companies started deviating from the manufacturing of phones with mini SIM slot to those with micro SIM slots and eventually, the micro SIM started taking over mainstream SIM type from mini SIM and as of 2017 virtually all Tecno and Infinix phones were made with the micro SIM card slots.

It is usual for phone users to try to retain their unique SIM card number in virtually any circumstances they find themselves and in order for them to do so; they will necessarily need to transform their SIMs by resizing/cutting them to be suitable for their current devices.

And Infinix and Tecno phone lovers made their first SIM cutting in the era of transition from Mini SIM Infinix and Tecno phones to Micro SIMs devices.

And now guess, what? Infinix and Tecno are now quickly transforming into making devices that comes with Nano SIMs, and 2018 have already started ushering Infininx and Tecno phones with Nano SIMs and gradually, they will face out devices with micro SIM slots, and what that means is that Infinix and Tecno phone users will soon start cutting their SIM card again from micro to nano.

And how will it change smartphones for the better? It won't... Currently my phone goes flat but I'm going out, no worries slip the sim into another phone no problem. I'm out of data but need phone data whilst out and about, no problem slip in a payg sim and carry on. Gone abroad? No problem, slip in a compatible sim with phones network bands.

No money for monthly data but wanna use night bundle? No problem, just swap sim.

Good tech. But no real world advantage.

From micro to nano sim all these got me remember the old days when we buy sim at 15k to 32k. My brother that first got sim that time was like a king. The people ayaf mumu us no be today .....prffessional scam everywhere thank God for competition.

it would give more room for phone makers to pay with making the phone slimmer and who knows POP in bigger battery or another hardware. With eSim, you don't need to pop out since card nor run the risk of losing a sim card. Dude just use Google

Until they build phones with ghost sim cards which will still working on my sim card, anyhow they want to do it is their problem but until they do that, I will know they have done all.

have used nano sim on my HTC desire 816 way back in 2014. So their technological advancement is something other phones have been using for years already. Am not understanding o����

I jst pray nothing happens to my type-c charger for now.cuz I've not seen it in any retail shop in my area., another problem is that even the earpiece uses the same port, not the usual 3.5'mm jack.that one na to order online sha.

You can get online. I think it is sold for 1,300 on jumia.

Get one for backup just incase something happens

I've already read up on it. I've read all its advantages. But no real world scenario would it live up to.

Ok, what would you do if you run out of battery? Or your phone goes bad (screen issues, charging issues, defective processors, over heating, sudden death syndrome, etc)?
Mind you, the only importance is that you can switch to a new network a lot easier (obviously they'll be rules or ToC limiting frequent network jumps), and the phone would 'probably' be slimmer but with more newer hardware. You can't call the network to move your contacts, and if you lose your phone or stuff happens to it, you'd still have to visit the network centre for ID verification and retrieving your phone number.


Be realistic here, ignore all the tech jargons. Open your mind to the glaring facts.

This is for those that use Tecno and infinix. I use a global brand, and both SIM slots are nano! I don't care about Tecno and infinix
