Reports reaching Niger Delta reporters has it that a private University in Akwa Ibom by name, Obong University in Obong Ntak Ntak, Etim Ekpo Local Government Area was attacked last night by Ex-Militants of the defunct MEND turned Militia Men/Cultist resident in Port Harcourt’s neighboring town of Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun. It’s on the record that these two neighboring towns have been a hot zone in the past one year. We in Niger Delta Entertainment call on the Federal Government to intervene in this critical security issue as people’s investments ha runs into billions of Naira is destroyed on a daily basis. The OP should have his knuckles cracked with a hammer for posting lies. Etim Ekpo L.G.A is not a neighbouring town to Port Harcourt. It borders Azumire in Abia State which is about 45 minutes drive to Aba and about 90 minutes drive to Port Harcourt. Etim Ekpo isn't even close to the Atlantic Ocean and not an oil-producing community too. Its people have always been involved in inter-communal clashes with other communities, especially in the neighbouring Abia State. This has nothing to do with MEND or Niger-Delta Avengers and there's been no battle in Obong University except the usual cult/gang violence in tertiary institutions which is rare. Stop spreading lies to get blog traffic! |

TSOM:Mr Man, hen ou really don know much about these boys. i am a lecturer in Obong University n Sure Foundation Poly, so i can say that i have a good knowledge of both towns. Yes you're right with your border town things, but i tell you man, these guys are Ex-Militants, even the Military is finding it very tough to overcome them. so i know them. just rest with your other assumption. |

Nigerdeltaent:Man, pipe down. You'd likely find (ex-)militants involved in fracases in Oron, Urue Effong , Ibono and the surrounding communities 'cause these are oil-producing communities. In Etim Ekpo? What oil or oil largesse is there to fight over. Those guys are cultists and thugs but certainly not militants ('militants' in the Nigerian context). Cultism in Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun is the bane of those communities not militancy which renders the OP of militants invading Obong University wrong. |
