Real Madrid superstar and five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has fallen outside the top 20 most valuable players in the transfer market.

Ronaldo, 33, is officially ranked 24th, while FC Barcelona club record-goalscorer Lionel Messi ranks at fourth according to the CIES Football Observatory.

The CIES algorithm measures the value of the players based on 10 variables, which include on-field performance, a player’s club, contract duration and age.

And according to the report, Tottenham striker Harry Kane is the most valuable player in world football at a staggering £177m (R3b), ahead of world-record signing Neymar of Paris Saint Germain.
Neymar's strike partner Kylian Mbappe, 19, comes in at third, while Messi and Mohamed Salah round up to top five.

Of all 20 players worth over £100m, 12 ply their trade in the Premier League, with the remainder coming from PSG, La Liga giants Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus.

At 33 his value has obviously dropped as he approaches d twilight of his career.... Younger players who still have years ahead definitely command much more value..
