The bridge after Mowo Junction, 18km from Mokwa and about one kilometre from Tatabu bridge that collapsed last year and repaired promptly by the Federal Government on Mokwa- Jebba road collapsed due to heavy rainfall last night.

According to Bisi Kazeem, Corps Public Education Officer, FRSC, consequently, vehicular movement from both sides of the road is affected as there is no thorough fare as at the moment.

FRSC therefore advises motorists to ply Lokoja road as an alternative if going to Lagos and Abuja in the interim

Kazeem said FRSC Corps Marshal , Boboye Oyeyemi has ordered immediate deployment of more personnel and logistics on the proposed alternative route to cater for the anticipated upsurge in vehicular movements along the route.

Oyeyemi therefore calls for caution amongst the motoring public while the bridge is fixed promptly by the Government. The Corps Marshal has also ordered strict traffic surveillance by operatives of the Corps at the bridge head to avert any mishap.

that's not a bridge... it's called a box culvert from the picture a single cell box culvert or more who go wan carry bridge wey collapse at first picture

And to the poster giving what could ve caused u only made a point..
from the picture you noticed the culvert is structurally OK ND it's even precast.. what happened is just simple water enrolled causes some overturning moment or it washed away the soil beneath

solution runoff/rainfall from surrounding areas should be well taken care of reducing the speed before hitting the structure

second solution raise that section ND adjoining section a little bit use an Abutment to Abutment( small bridge) structure ..

It is really lack of maintenance. Erosion washed away the support of the bridge and no maintenance was done till the bridge collapsed. May also be due to activities of sand miners.

Your education is useless, I advice you sue your school for a refund of your tuition fees. Read and understand before commenting, this bridge is 1KM away from the tatabu bridge fixed last time.

This is what d emir of Ilorin nd saraki has cost humanity. Road awarded too them and nothing done. God help us in dis country.
