Let us remember that when Obasanjo's wife, Stella Obasanjo, died on the table of surgery in Spain, the Police or some Judge in Spain did not lockup or jail the Doctor in question. Again, jailing this nurse is punishment for a crime that has not been proven to haven occurred and as such, it is unjust!
Stella Obasanjo's doctor was jailed for negligence...

He got one year in jail for manslaughter and had his licence suspended for 2 years by the Spanish courts....

That's because

1.We don't have enough pathologists in the country

2.People prefer to take the corpse home quickly.

3.Lack of adequate storage for corpses.

4.We don't enforce the laws...by right everyone who dies should have an autopsy

Nurses and other healthcare professionals should be held to very high standards because they control people's lives. However, there's no scientific evidence that shows that the drug administered by this nurse was done with malicious intent.

More so, it's not been proven that it is the medication that killed this dying man other than the word of another incompetent doctor who's probably just blaming this poor nurse because the victim was a senator. Besides, nurses carry-out or administer what Doctors prescribe. Nurses don't determine dosage, it is the Doctors that do and that is where the responsibility lies.

Consequently, this nurse should be released from prison because there is no criminal offence on his part. He was only giving medications prescribed by the Doctor in Charge.

That said, if the family of the senator see cause to seek restitution for wrongful death, they can sue the hospital that employed the nurse for wrongful death and their complaints to the courts may range from failure of management, improper training or supervision, to just about any reason that could have led to the death of the victim.

In that case, the family of this senator should really be targeting the insurance company of the hospital, not the nurse (except the nurse has insurance) as the insurance company, on behalf of the hospital or clinic, has ability to pay for the loss.

Let us remember that when Obasanjo's wife, Stella Obasanjo, died on the table of surgery in Spain, the Police or some Judge in Spain did not lockup or jail the Doctor in question. this is crass stupidity. Did it ever occur to you that if a doctor prescribed the drugs, he would have been held responsible. The nurse was practicing quackery. This is exactly what johesu wants. This is what they always aspire to do but through the wrong means. The nurse assumed the role of a doctor without prerequisite training and decided to prescribe and administer. That's just what we see. Here you are typing rubbish. If the nurse in question restricted himself to administering drugs prescribed by a doctor, the doctor would have been held responsible. But no, they see it as taking instructions from doctors and will not tolerate it. Lab technicians do same. Let all of them just practice medicine o. They are all doctors and more important than doctors. This happens on a daily basis but just heard because it involved a senator.

A coroners inquest led by a magistrate said adeleke died of drug overdose...

A chief medical director said adeleke died of drug overdose...

A consultant pathologist said adeleke died of drug overdose...

Its either you did not read or you re being funny...

The nurse said adeleke gave him the drug which he administered and it was not in overdose...so why not let the nurse prove in court that adeleke could prescribe drug for himself and also prove that what he gave was not overdose...

huh huh huh

shut ur trap and stop ramping up conclusion without any evidential premise. Ignoramus. If you followed this investigation, you would know adeleke did not go to a hospital. He invited the nurse to his house. Dumb skull. You are looking for who to push the blame of quackery to.

don't mind them. Since adeleke is late, the nurse can claim anything. The late man is not there to tell us whether he gave the drug to the nurse to administer to him or the nurse procured it and administered.

Many cases like this go unreported in our hospitals. The medical doctors are the major culprits. They are only taking up this particular case because a nurse is involved. If it had been a medical doctor that administered the drug, the matter would have been swept under the carpet..

Let us make autopsies compulsory for any registered death in our hospitals, then we'll get to see how people die untimely from doctors' prescription errors.

Sorry,but that is not true.

Many Nigerian doctors have been punished by the Guild for medical negligence. Loss of licence, etc.

Reason why more don't get investigated? We don't have enough foprensic labs, people don't report cases, etc.

Plus, the Nurse was investigated and indicted by a Coroner's report.

Let's not justify bad practice...nurses or doctors.

Trust me bro. I know what i typed. Many nigerian medical doctors kill innocent Nigerians with drug prescription errors. All these happen because the Nigerian med doctors feel they know it all, and so they refuse to seek the advice of the hospital pharmacists before prescribing some drugs. I have encountered many of such cases so I know what I'm typing.
When they kill unsuspecting patients from such wrong use of drugs they say it's adverse drug reaction, and then they cover up the whole malpractice and nobody asks any further questions. Our hospitals are death traps bro.

It is the nurse's responsibility to understand prescribed medication and carry out the 10 rights of medication administration (part of which includes ensuring that the dose is safe for the patient). The doc might have prescribed an overdose, but the nurse was neglectful of his responsibilities when he administered the dose.

You are a daft mor0n for trying to score cheap political points against Johesu with this case. And why you conveniently ignore the fact that many physicians have murdered nigerians due to greed and negligence.

Go to clinics and see how physicians stampede pregnant women into having caesarean sections so that they can make more money when they clearly know the woman can give birth through normal vaginal delivery.

75% of the women who undergo C-Section in the hands of Nigerian physicians usually become infertile after the C-Section procedure. The poor women never get to become pregnant again and when they 'miraculously' do they never carry the pregnancy to term.

daft write up. Can you back up that figure u quoted there with evidence. U reek of hate and ignorance. Do you even know indications for cesarean section. You imps just come here and make sweeping statements. That you work in hospital environment doesn't mean you should assume you know anything. You are very daft to think cesarean section is even related to infertility talk more of the percentage rate you quoted there. May the so called physicians you falsely condemn, condemn your life and the lives of your loved ones if you ever visit one.

I get your narrative but you got it all wrong sir.
The nurse has been his personal care giver for a long time before the incident that claimed his life.
The nurse usually visit the senator at home, outside of an hospital setting. Hence your assumption that he was only following a doctors prescription is also wrong.
Anything could have killed him, but the nurse was the person who administered intravenous drugs on him at the senator's house as they usually do prior to his death.
Guess you haven't been following the case before now.
