Presidential elections were held in Nigeria on 12 June 1993, the first since the 1983 military coup. The result was a victory for Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola of the Social Democratic Party, who defeated Bashir Tofa of the National Republican Convention.[1] However, the elections were later annulled by military ruler Ibrahim Babangida, leading to a crisis that ended with Sani Abacha leading a coup later in the year.

President Muhammadu Buhari has decided to set aside June 12th of every year as a day to commemorate the acclaimed winner of the elections, Chief MKO Abiola. As we all know, June 12th is the new "Democracy Day" as against the old "May 29th" which is now the "handover day".

Whatever that means though. Just to let you know that you can't just sit at the comfort of your room and be telling people on nairaland that Buhari is going back to Daura without working towards that.

Most of the people who are gonna return Buhari back to Aso Rock come next year don't even know if a site like nairaland exists or not. All they care about is returning Buhari back to Aso Rock do he can complete his 8yrs. I take such people more seriously than those who don't have PVC's yet come here daily to "return Buhari back to Daura" with their fingers.
