Nigeria's population and GDP is roughly 4 times that of ours.They are nothing special! Their GDP is just upped by the huge population! Almost 100 Million Nigerians are poor and live under the poverty line.Nigerians living in poverty rised to over 61%!

I never heard of Kenyans on a boat trying to go to Europe? Have you? Nigerians should stay in Nigeria and try to build their country! One thing you people do not understand is that migration has a lot to do with the culture of contentment.

Look at the Latin Americans, they have better economic and livelihood standards than most African countries, yet they are still ready to die to cross over to the USA by any means possible.

Migration is not based on poverty alone, if it was, then Northern Nigerians would have been leaving Nigeria more than the Southerners, but as it currently stands, 90% of the people who leave Nigeria through the desert & sea are Southern Nigerians.

This is simply because the northerners tend to have a culture of contentment. While Southern Nigerians have this mentality of get rich or die trying.

So it is not just based on poverty alone.

Kenyans may be damn poor, but if they have a strong culture of contentment, they still wouldn't want to take the risks of illegal migration.

Southern Nigerians have to take 2 days journeys before they get to the extreme north of Nigeria and cross over into Niger republic, while Northern Nigerians who are few hours away from Niger republic still do not cross over to take that risky journey.. What does that tell you guys?

Maybe the poverty levels haven't forced us out yet! Most migrants cry of poverty and lack of opportunities back home.Poverty should be the number one reason!

How can anyone take a place like Nairobi serious when there are slums and concentration camp houses in every corner of the city?

Most European cities do not have any highrises, yet they are still ranked as the most beautiful in the world.

Take a look at the kind of low income houses that litter the length and breadth of the Nairobi! Yet they are so expensive.

Thousands of people living in one building, and they want to compare Nairobi to Abuja?

Abuja was not created to be a congested place. It has a very good plan and structure to combat congestion.

It's Municipality currently has about 2 million people, it's urban area currently has about 4 million people.

I am from Northern Nigeria!
And my region is far far poorer than the south! Out of the 33% of Nigerians living in extreme poverty, 70% or even more are from Northern Nigeria.

The majority of northern Nigerians are poor while the majority of southern Nigerians are not poor

90% of the people who leave Nigeria are Southern Nigerians. What part of this is difficult for your brain to grasp?
If migration was based on poverty alone, then we northernerns would have been leaving Nigeria far more than the southernerns, yet the reverse is the case here.

I have told you before that these Little Indians only see things in black and white. It can never be clear to them that those who migrate do so not because they are dirt poor but because they are mostly malcontents. Take for example, a Nigerian who could raise 500,000 naira to travel to Libya. Meanwhile that amount is over a $1000 and could start a small business in Nigeria. Dirt poor people can't raise that amount.

That is most whack theory I ever heard. Northern Nigeria are basically mostly illiterate muslim cattle herders - who probably have not yet heard of Europe - perhaps Mecca in Saudi Arabia is where they are emigrating. South Nigerians are emigrating because Nigeria is a shit-hole and they know it. Northern Nigeria after many decade of boko-haram don't know anything except koran and cattle herding.

People emigrate everyday - there are thousands of kenya emigrating to Europe or Asia or Middle east every single day - but it takes some serious form of desperation to make a dangerous journey through Libya & finally through the middle east in rickety boat - it's a such serious desperation - only war torn countries citizen like Syria, Yemen, Somali & such countries make that dangerous journey - and then add the only PEACEFUL COUNTRY NIGERIA where it's citizen are making suicidal trip to Europe.

Again like we have seen in many indices - Nigeria despite it's peace - is as bad as Yemen or Chad or South Sudan or Eritrea or Somali or name any BOTTOM 10-20 countries in the world...and NIGERIA will appear in nearly every index in that BOTTOM...and it no wonder that like Eritreans -or Ethiopeans or Yemenis - Nigeria are making dangerous suicidal trip through sahara desert in desperate bid to end up as european refugees!

This is supposedly a giant of Africa with 500B dollar economy and yet people cannot use legal channels to immigrate!

It's pathetic. This is why Nairobi can never compare Abuja or even Lagos.
Decent housing is a luxury in Kenyan cities available to only the rich and foreigners.
I have clearly proven that over and over again here.

Now imagine if 60% of Nairobians live in slums and another 30% live in concentration camp houses. Only a very small percent of their population have access to decent housing.
This is why I pity anyone who takes these people serious.
