Also I don't doubt Innoson imported car parts and assembled them at the beginning... But as the company grew bigger he backward integrated and started manufacturing the parts and sourcing other parts in Nigeria.. Today 70% of his car parts are locally sourced and manufactured... That's how a company/industrialization works

By the way in Nigeria, we have entrepreneurs who make phones and laptops too. SOLO phone is one of them. l would begin to fill this place with Nigerian manufacturers bit by bit. They are just too many.
Nigerians are really tough when it comes to business and the informal sector, so many things of which in the past l never knew Nigerians venture into.

What was incentive for buying locally - with your logistics and without any car industry - what can you source locally. Chinese can sell him those knock off cars completely made for 2,000usd - why would he trouble himself with sourcing 70% of content?

Please I know there is very little to be proud off in Nigeria - it one hell-hole of a country - but you'll have to work for it.

The Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Limited, Chief Innocent Chukwuma yesterday said the company will, in the next five years, commence local manufacture of vehicle engine to acheive [near] 100 per cent local content in the auto industry.

Currently, the firm is doing 60 per cent local content with the assembling of vehicle parts and the purchase of vehicle engines from foreign markets
