Correct facts about Uzoho

1. He won medals at handball tournaments while at Boys Model Secondary School in Owerri.

2. As at 2011, he was still in secondary school.

3. He was discovered by Aspire while still in Secondary school after shining in a tournament sponsored by Coca cola.

4. Two-time winner of the 2012 and 2013 editions of the Mediterranean International Cup in Spain with Aspire’s Team 1998 and 1997 respectively.

5. He only made the 2013 under 17 team at such a young age because three other goalkeepers failed the mandatory MRI scan used to ascertain players’ ages.

6. Uzoho passed the MRI test which has 99% accuracy rate. With the MRI test, Uzoho's age can NOT be more than 22 MAXIMUM.

I heard the guy was very tiny as at 2010-11 but when Ugbade saw him in 2013, he had grown very tall. He passed the MRI test and so must be close to the age he is claiming.

The extent to which most bloggers and some heartless Nigerians have gone to rubbish this Kid's profile is not funny.

Look at this kid below from Brazil who recently joined what I assume to be your team (judging by your moniker), Real madrid. His name is Vinicius Jr and he is just 17. Would be 18 next month.

You are welcome. I must also add that there are certain conditions that can also make a youngster look older than he looks although this may not necessarily apply to Uzoho's. But this is just to address other people out there who may be facing the stigma of lying about their age.

These conditions are Lipodystrophy and then Progeria. A few more may exist.

If you were not there the day his mother gave birth to him you really have no empirical evidence to question his age!

You may be 30yr old and still getting fed by your mother but please don’t put other people down who have gone out there in the world to fight for their survival at a very young age!

Most importantly this is the senior World Cup! Whether Uzoho is 19 or 90 gives Nigeria no unique advantage whatsoever. So let this silly debate just stop!

This lad is a kid who is only still finding his feet professionally and folks wanna rubbish his youth and his profile. It is absolutely wicked.

The MRI age determination test for Teens is 99% accurate and has six grades by which a youngster is strongly indicated to fall within the "below 18yrs" bracket. The MRI tests and checks the fusion or non-fusion of the epiphyses of the distal radius of the left wrist. When it is completely fused, it means the lad is above 17-18 or possibly at exactly 18 (in very few cases).

This is why a lad at maybe grade IV (4) or grade V (5) can pass the MRI test today but fail same test more than six months down the line. This is due to the exponential manner in which teens mature in this rapid teen growth phase between 14-19.

I am explaining this because Uzoho passing the MRI proven to be 99% accurate in terms of strong indication for age range determination means he falls within the genuinely young bracket of youthful talents. I understand that in the past, things used to be bad and age cheating was so rampant but since 2011, The FIFA U-17 tournaments have been churning out a large number of true teen youngsters and that class of 2013 marked a new dawn in Nigerian football. A dawn that carried on into the class of 2015 which has produced that kid that scored that worldie against Oblak in the atletico friendly, Kelechi Nwakali, among others like Chukwueze and Ipalibo at Villarreal and a host of others.

I want Nigerians to be open to the light that has recently shone in our darkness of age cheating from the past. From the 2013 class, things became very very different thanks to the F-MRI approach which became absolutely mandatory from the 2011 edition of the FIFA U-17 World cup.

He was 15 in 2013. All of my siblings were 15 or younger in SS2. My immediate younger sister was 14 in SS2. I was 16 in SS2 and i was older than many in my class.

There is no evidence of age cheating.

I am simply placing a ceiling on his age. He is certainly a young lad.
