I don't mean to be rude but before you use a word on someone please do check the meaning again. Do you know what it mean for someone to be selfish. Let me assume that it was a slip of hand.

So laying my concern and how I feel is now being selfish?

I contacted her while I was in Nigeria, she replied with Hi. I got her email address and sent her my concerns which she never replied back until when I contacted her again now in Australia she still said hi and I sent my concerns to her as someone that knows better and she didn't reply and you call it am selfish....

So I don't have right to express myself again Mr bellong... ?

Hey guys! I'm in Melbourne, visiting from Wellington, I'm here for a few days on some work related stuff but also using the opportunity to check out the city, because I'm hoping to move back to Aus in a few months and trying to decide which one of my firm's office I want to transfer to - Adalaide or Melbourne. I've lived in Adelaide for about a week and have my bother there, really chill place. But this Melbourne is more my style, big city and lots to do, you guys have traffic here sha and lots of construction going on.

I googled african barbers and found one in footscray, took the train there...southern cross station is busy as. Infact everyone in Melbourne seems to be in a hurry to get somewhere, but it's been nice seeing a lot more diversity here than in Wellington. I saw yam in footscray, I was so happy bought 1 tuber, cost 20 dollars, but the yam is really good, all those very white ones that when you cut them are a bit slimy. I've only seen big coco yam (ede bu ji in igbo) in NZ.

I'm liking Melbourne so far, will go see seaworld and some other places over the weekend before leaving. See photo of my yam which I'm getting ready to cook with egg sauce and fry some later. Chai...wish I could take this back to NZ and make porridge.

What's stopping you from taking it back to NZ?

Those yams are lucky I did not see them. Car booth or NZPost would have settled the quarrel las las.

Thank you.

Hi,

Are you staying with friends in Canberra or by yourself?

Google is your best friend you know?Canberra has an immigrant service unit that helps with settling down which you would have contacted from Naija please see the attached and send them a mail.(They mailed us that newsletter and a few other infos since we are waiting on a 190 grant for ACT.)

For house I have been reading/researching on suburbs and am signed up on a few alerts you might want to check out houses in Coombs it's a new suburb I gather.

Also try to join groups on FB and Instagram there are loads of Canberra community groups and you might just be able to find all the help you need.

Like someone said move around, church etc am not certain if there's much anyone living in another State can do for you,You will have to find someone living in Canberra to give precise information.

All the best.

I'm no more on Australia runs

Bamz:

Hi there,

How's the progress with your application?

The NT site is just so difficult to navigate. I can't even find the eligibility requirements for the different visa subclasses.

Hello jelmusboy,

Do you have an idea of the required POF that NT requires? and prevailing points for someone to receive ITA (for 489)?

I understand that 190 is for those with relatives in the region.

I didnt know if customs would have allowed it. So I bought 1 tuber, fried some and boiled the rest...the yam made sense! Hehe.

I'm not familiar with the area but its on Paisley street, there are a bunch of Asian shops on the left side of the road if you're heading towards the footscray library, before you get to KMart. You'll see Plantain, yam and coco-yam on display.

I think you can swear an affidavit to that effect... But if i may ask, why did they request for your WAEC certificate and which visa class?

Yes, if you are a skilled person in some trades and have trade test certificate to back it up. Check TRA website.

I can't really say but I believe once you put in expression of interest and you receive ITA, you should follow the prompt in the link.

Hello all,

Nice to be here to talk about experiences of living in Oz. Tyosho has done some real justice to much of the areas. I will just chip in some bits from a NSW (Sydney)perspective .

Housing: Rent in Sydney is quite expensive, though depending on where you stay, you might get some cheaper deals. In a month , it could be as high as half of your monthly wages excluding other small bills. The only good news is that the further you are from the city, the cheaper it is for you. Talking about my experience, I decided to come in first on my own before bringing in family and I think it worked fine for me. I got a shared apartment close to the city and paid about 250 per week for a small room. It was just me so I didnt mind. Used the opportunity to research the different areas. I finally settled for one in the MacArthur region , about 54km from the city...about 1hr train ride from the city. I didnt mind the commute , as I use the time to do other things. In this area , houses , apartment are cheaper and you have more open spaces and parks for children to play. Applying for a house through an agent is another story altogether which I know would be dealt with in this thread.

Transportation : Everyone in OZ would always tell you to get a car as a necessity. Everywhere is far from each other. You can manage with bus waiting times and walking to train stations for a while but as time goes on, you would definitely need to get one. Depending on what you want , car prices are not bad . I know someone that got a Camry pencil light for just $600 with little or no issue. Just some paintwork needed but that's based on preference. If working in the city, the train is your best bet, however if working in the suburbs...a car is needed. In NSW, you can use your naija licence for only 3 months, after that , you become a learner. Dont know about Victoria , but NSW test is usually difficult , its a rule that they don't pass you the first time and one little wrong move , its failure. I got it at my third attempt grin .

Other experiences still to come depending on what people want to know.

@ Bellong, I have always wanted to say thank you to you for your help during my application journey, sometimes in 2015. Greatly appreciated.

Can you be a little precise with your question, what do you want, financial assistance or information on how to go about the immigration processes ?

I think you alone can answer this question yourself using the indicators you want from a society.

Any response anyone of us give you will be biased towards where we live.

Get on to the internet, research about the two countries based on your expectations. The results you get from your research should help you to make informed decision.

However, you should read the skill migration thread to be sure that your occupation is on the Australia's skilled occupation list.

Yes, you can always apply for your spouse down the line. However, it may be little difficult now as the financial requirements will be higher to proof you can cater for her and still afford school fees.
