Very nice. At least the plan wasn't to die hence the location and use of dummies. To really find out, they should load it up with fellow scientists and try it real-time. If they lack scientist test-subjects, they should inform Nigerian authorities like the NDLEA to give them a good supply of science students to be used for such tests.
Why now?

This is the nonsense stats the aviation industry uses to ignore reforms that would improve flight safety. Yes if only 1 in 8000 but when you consider the number of flights in a day and the fact that the fatality is very high compared to cars. But the auto industry is still innovating with air bags, crash sensors etc. What is the aviation industry doing?

You are right. If you watch this video(I think I have had it on my phone since 2015 or so) you will discover that the plane was flying slow and low before impact. Which is hardly true of all plane crashes.

Although the results got from the experiment are important & helpful, it's not same in all situations.
That's exactly my point. Though the results could give one or two clues about what kind of safety airline operators can put in place as against crashes but it's not an accident of equal measure. At least not all airplanes crashes in the desert.

You are definitely right.

Sudden engine failure won't bring down a plane. In a country like US where there numerous airports/airfields scattered around the country, a plane with "all engine" failure will successfully land. It's when an aerodynamic part is broken, jammed or not responding, that's when there is serious call for alarm.

These days, good pilots don't fear engine failure when flying over a city.

At 40k ft, a Boeing 777 can glide from Port Harcourt to Enugu before it hits the ground.(under normal circumstances) Lighter planes can cover more distance.
wow,

are you serious?
