direct physical harm.

negative impacts on mental and physical health.

poor moral internalization and increased antisocial behavior.

increased aggression in children.

increased violent and criminal behavior in adults.

damaged education.

damaged family relationships.

increased acceptance and use of other forms of violence.

We really need to stop Corporal Punishment in our school, the pupils are human and not animal.

I once watched a debate on this issue on Aljazeera's inside story... I do not believe all these things you listed are effects of just corporal punishments. a lot of kids around the world especially the west who did not experience corporal punishments are violent too. I'M GRATEFUL TO GOD THERE WAS SOMEONE WHO LOVED ME ENOUGH TO DISCIPLINE ME..

Is caning a child a criminal offence? One would even ask what the kids did before they were caned.

I will never send my children to any school that doesn't instill discipline into its pupils by flogging them. I sometimes hear my daughter say that she would be flogged by her Auntie if she doesn't do her homework. We were flogged in our days and it made us sit up. You sent your child to school to learn, is it only academics he or she should be taught? He or she should also experience the other side of life, that if you do wrong, you will be punished. No wonder our current youths lack discipline

Did you or your mates have damaged education or relationships?

Are you more aggressive now as a result of the beatings you received in sch?

I enjoyed my going to school back in the days when teachers, principal will flog and correct us. we'd even prefer to be caned than let our parents hear our atrocities.

I once went to my daughter's school to complain when I discovered that she was caned about two times in a single day over a matter that should have been forwarded to us as her parents (money for pen) and another one that should have been overlooked (fallen blackboard). Five years old.

You don't flog another person's child. There are other ways of achieving your aim. If they can't obey others or do the right thing, suspend them. Get their parents involved. Some parents give express permission but don't do that without their permission.

Gone are the days when parents have lots of children. These days, lots of kids are born through CS. You don't know how people come about theirs, allow them to do the extreme punishment. Even some parents don't flog their kids. They just deny them a few things to get them on track.

The fact that we were being beaten like animals during our time shouldn't mean that we should allow the same treatments to be given to our kids. Some teachers would beat 5, 6,7,8 years old kids like they are discipline an adult.
I didn't turn out violent, aggressive or damaged but I never liked or wanted those beatings. I suffered torn back skin in primary one, three and four. Then in js3, ss1 and ss3.
We're not better than many societies where it is forbidden to lash pupils and students.

Most times kids prefer you cane them than talk to them. Some teachers cane because they are frustrated because of poverty they end up taking it out of the child like the last video.

Lol. It is. Even public school teachers in Osun State know this but some of them who are sadist wouldn't listen until one finds himself in the police station.

Seeing those teachers coming to the class with bunch of canes like masquerade divert your attention from the subject of the day, I believe there are other ways to correct your sutdents than beating them up like goat
