The Death of Stalin is so good. Had me in stitches. 8/10 would watch again.

Beorn, so I have finally seen Mindhunters, and here are my thoughts:

10 minutes into the movie I realized I'm familiar with the concept. It's a ripoff of Agatha Christie's Novel "And then there were none". Basically, a group of people met in an isolated island and one after the other met a mysterious end in the hands of an unknown assailant. The killer's MO is inspired by a poem - he killed his victims based on the contents of the poem. When the group concluded that the killer must be one of them after the first murder, he faked his death to effectively eliminate himself from suspicion, and then proceeded to kill the others on the sly.

Now, the plot of Mindhunters put a little spin on this by changing things here and there, but ultimately ruined it by making the mysterious assailant a villain. There wasn't any twist to justify the gruesome murders in the end. While it maintained a good deal of the thriller part, the movie became predominantly action oriented, and just way too cliche and over the top to me. Basically, it lost it's purpose, sense of realism and most importantly, it's intelligence.

In the novel and TV adaptation, the final twist revealed that the mysterious assailant is the protagonist all along. Everyone in that island with the exception of the killer were all guilty of grievous crimes in the past, and got away with it... or so they thought. The killer cunningly lured them to the island to mete out his own brand of justice on them. In the end, nobody walked away from the island unscathed as the killer (the sole survivor) is revealed to be suffering from a terminal cancer.


Bottom line, Mindhunters could have been great if it followed the source as close as possible, but in an attempt to carve out it's own identity, it ended up murking up what would have been a commendable psychological mystery thriller.

My laziness for reading books had prevented me from reading that novel and Agatha's works in general, but I think I'll check out the novel this movie was adapted from to compare with your appraisal. Way much more interesting. A typical Agatha Christie work. You won't be able to figure it out until the end, and the reveal will wow you because it was starring you right in the face all along, and you missed it somehow.

Rampage- It's interesting, but not extra-ordinary. The CGI is also average. I don't know the back story of the 'Okoye' name used by Rock's character but it tickled me to no end.

You can still enjoy the drama, the intrigue, the subterfuge, the dialogue. There's a lot to enjoy even if the killer's id has already been revealed to you. It's a great read.

A trick question. Yes and no. Depends on the wife and the role the husband plays in the relationship.

So I saw Red sparrow.

My ratings:
Plot was good.
The scenes of the state school four were lit. They were my favorite

There's something sexy about the
Russian accent. It's hot.

But I feel Dominika(Jennifer Lawrence) came a bit short in her effort to speak with the accent...

There were some scenes u could easily
tell she struggled to pull it off.
I could easily sense the American accent in most of her talk

However she did try. I give her 5/10 on that.

Overall it was a good film.

I rate it 6.5/10 in general.

And besides I am taking about the usage of the Russian accent in the role she played. Not the language itself.

I can tell a Russki accent from a Ukrainian accent, same way I can tell a Cockney accent from a Scouse accent, a Glaswegian accent from an Edinburgh accent, a Cork accent accent from a Derry accent, a Yoruba accent from an Itsekiri accent: Rhotic consonants. Some accents use hard "r", and some use very soft "r", whilst some don't use "r" at all.

Not true. There is a typical Russian intonation that you can hear from many Russians when they speak English. Same thing applies to a French indigene who speaks English. When he or she does speak English, it'll very audible to even a deaf person that he or she is French. Watch this movie called Just Go With It. The guy in movie was an American but he mimicked the French intonation of speaking English. As a Nigerian, if a typical England born and raised speaks the England intonation, I'll be able to spot it very easily.

LOL. Your own is on another level. I wasn't even angry at Koice, don't mind my feigning of anger. I've had about 10 Agatha's novels with me for over 5 years now and my laziness stopped me from reading any of them. I deserve that spoiler from Koice. Next time I'll learn how to stop procrastinating and go get the job done.

In England itself, there's a lot of dialects. We are more exposed to the RP (received pronunciation) due to it's frequent use in portraying the stereotypical English accent in American media. But there are other English accents like Scouse, Lancashire, York and Cockney. All these aforementioned sound very different to RP accent, and an untrained ear could very easily mistaken them for a scottish accent or non-english accents at first time of hearing them.
