LOL. Your own is on another level. I wasn't even angry at Koice, don't mind my feigning of anger. I've had about 10 Agatha's novels with me for over 5 years now and my laziness stopped me from reading any of them. I deserve that spoiler from Koice. Next time I'll learn how to stop procrastinating and go get the job done. grin
Can I have one? embarassed

In England itself, there's a lot of dialects. We are more exposed to the RP (received pronunciation) due to it's frequent use in portraying the stereotypical English accent in American media. But there are other English accents like Scouse, Lancashire, York and Cockney. All these aforementioned sound very different to RP accent, and an untrained ear could very easily mistaken them for a scottish accent or non-english accents at first time of hearing them.
I forgot to add the emboldened in my earlier posts. Some of these accents are also hard to understand if someone that doesn't have a deep knowledge of them or if one didn't grow up in the UK. I once watched a BBC documentary and most of the interviewees had Scouce accents and I was really struggling to grab what they're saying. They're speaking English but yet it sounded so strange to me.

The movie is a satire and although it was funny, I stopped laughing after some time when I realised they were portraying true events

What accent does the Queen have?

I can tell a Russki accent from a Ukrainian accent, same way I can tell a Cockney accent from a Scouse accent, a Glaswegian accent from an Edinburgh accent, a Cork accent accent from a Derry accent, a Yoruba accent from an Itsekiri accent: Rhotic consonants. Some accents use hard "r", and some use very soft "r", whilst some don't use "r" at all.
You dey try sha. I can't differentiate most of these accents especially a Glaswegian accent from an Edinburgh accent and a Cork accent from a Derry's own.

Mscheeeew. I prefer hard copies. There's something about the smell, the feel and texture, the sound of book pages as you devour it's contents. It almost ethereal

I don't even know, someone that lives or had lived in UK will be more able to say the Queen's accent. All I know is that I understand her when she speaks, so whatever her accent may be, it's very easy to understand. There are some English accents that you'll struggle to comprehend.

LMAO @mtcheew. I knew you'd be only interested in hard copies only. I'm not much fan of novels but the I prefer hardcopies too. Hard copies are 100% better than E-copies. I find it really hard to read novels from a laptop. I prefer holding a book and lying down anyhow I like, or anywhere and enjoy my reading.

I have hardcopies of all Dan Brown's novels. I doubt you'd find easily someone that has most of Agatha's hardcopies.

I think her accent is called the Queen's accent English. grin grin

Her accent, whatever it is called, is what most England/UK movies like Harry Potter uses so that majority of the viewers can understand them.

It's one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. Hilarious and brutally dark.

Scouse is an amalgram of Southern irish accent and the midlands accent. Suffice to say, if you ain't a scouse speaker, you'd need subtitles to be able to decode the gibberish. Wayne Rooney is a scouse speaker, and if you watch some of his post-match interviews, you'd have to strain your ears to comprehend his mumbo jumbo, lolz. Scouse is a Merseyside (Liverpool and Everton's home) accent btw.

Glaswegian accent is distinct from an Edinburgh though. Only a native of Glasgow will be able to understand a Glaswegians accent easily, but Edinburgh accent is easy to understand to a non-native, if the recurring brogue (a speech impediment peculiar to the Irish and the Scots) can be ignored.

RP (received pronunciation). It's also called the BBC English or British Standard English. It's spoken mainly in South-eastern and south-southern England.

Studied Language and Linguistics for a while at the Uni. I dropped it eventually because it's a lot of work, it's one of the hardest courses you'll ever do.
