Whether we like it or not the use of technology in football has come to stay and it’s either we adapt fast or be left behind. Emphatically yes! It should be introduced into the Nigerian league and don’t tell me we don’t have the money or the expertise. We have the expertise ! We can train more if the need be. If Nigerian Mega-churches have enough cameras to cover everything going on in their domain why can’t the Nigerian League? It only requires extra cameras, radios and monitors. VAR and goal line technology should be integrated into the NPFL for the following reasons ?

1. CREDIBILITY: The reason our local league is not attractive enough is lack of credibility. The world will take NPFL serious if the league has credibility and what better way is there to show them we are credible ?
SPONSORSHIP: The reason NFF keeps fighting to get sponsorship is because the league is not attractive enough for investors. We hearing players been owed up and down, players running to Zimbabwe, Morocco and other third world countries to play all because the league lacks sponsorship.

2. MINIMIZE HUMAN ERRORS: We always hear stories of referee getting beating to stupor after a game because of errors. VAR we eradicate that and minimize human errors in the games. The era when referees are beaten up after a game would come to a screeching halt in Nigeria.

3.EMPLOYMENT: FIFA definitely had to employ extra personnel to cover the world cup as a result of this new technology. Think of the impact this would have on the unemployed youth all over the country. Football is big business and there’s huge money to be made from it. Let’s take advantage of it.

4.ADD GLAMOUR TO THE NIGERIAN LEAGUE: The creators of goal line technology (GLT) and Video Assistant Referee are not stupid. They know what they’re doing. There’s no doubt when our league become credible enough and starts attracting sponsorship, it will bring glamour to the Nigerian league, it will make our league beguiling, engaging, charming, charismatic, enchanting, appealing, delightful, irresistible. The era of empty stadium during football games will be over.

Is this a joke of a thread or what? In a league where the players can barely control the ball, where the officials are corrupt and literally forced to give home teams wins out of fear, where players are paid peanuts, where coverage and sponsorship deals are terrible, where statistics are treated poorly and many more issues and the priority for the OP is the introduction of VAR and Goal Line Technology? Let us learn to crawl and walk first before thinking of running. We have more pressing issues to sort out in our league before that.

First of all I commend OP for creating an original article. I hope to see more like this.

Secondly our Nigerian league needs this. With VAR our matches will have credibility.

A friend of mine once told me about a match where if an opposing team scores, the ball boy who was obviously paid will throw a soccer ball into the pitch at the same time, confusing the game officials. One doesn't need VAR to know this is wrong or to spot when the non-official ball enters the field but due to the rules of the game all the team's goals were nullified.

Don't say we do not possess the technology. How much are standard definition cameras that the NFF can't provide 60 at a go? If we can't afford HD ones then let's start from there.

When the league becomes credible sponsors will crawl out of the woodworks -- this is guaranteed. Coverage is possible, I know Ben Bruce has his sights on being the official carrier of Nigerian League matches.
All the naysayers should watch. Someone has to start first and other parts will fall into place. If the governing body is not ready then a private company can start it and rake huge profit while at it.

How possible is this you don't put the cart before the horse... How many cameras cover matches shown on TV in npfl...de is no sponsorship... No good Stadia or training facilities.... Players lack decent contract and pay...no structure yet u de talk of var which is capital intensive

Un-Google facts show that all the countries from the African soil that participates in this year's WorldCup have Buhari visit the country or have a call contact with the sitting president, which therefore create a direct failure to the African teams in Russia. (check google)
