I thought the OP wanted to tell us why the composer of the hymn composed it.

Thanks for coming out to say this, you see most of those that comment didn't read talk less of understanding the write-up. I read it twice yet I can't understand either.

I'll help out a bit.. a young man feeling unconcerned about his soul was approached by a pastor who invited him over to a programme holding in his church. On attending the programme, he went with a friend who raised a song when the time for young men to sing a song came. The wordings of the song"pass me not o gentle saviour" captured him at that point, he asked himself what his life would become if God passes him by. There and then he bought into the song and sang deep straight from his heart.
After the closure of the gathering, the pastor met with him and asked him to narrate how he felt of which he told him of how he was working by a canal and heard the song from some fellas having a meeting by a boat. The part "While on others Thou art calling, do not pass me by" from the song got to him and then he believed it was the turning point to which he became saved after the church programme.
Hopefully you'll understand with my little explanation but if not, then revert back to the original and read between the lines of each words slowly. Best wishes of the new month.

where's the "true story"?
can't you just compose a concise (re)view of something without introducing gross ambiguity and unparalleled vagueness?

Its written in simple enough English. What's there not to understand?

A pastor desired the salvation of a particular young man and kept inviting him to church and one day to his surprise the young man came and during the singing of hymns he chose to sing the "pass me not o gentle savior song" and did it with such gusto and when an altar call was made he came out with such eagerness and when asked why he is giving his life he narratted how he heard the same song while at his job and wondered what would happen to him if God truly passes him by and out of great fear for his soul, gave his life to God and indeed God did not pass him by.

Understand it now?

Your topic is very different from what you pen down, Mr. man.
You only write how the song saved someone, not the story of how it was composed.

The hymn was actually composed by Jane Fanny Crossby, who lost her sight when she was just 6 month old. It was during a powerful crusade that she received the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and started singing the song.

She was also the person that composed:
'There's a fountain filled with blood',

I bet you din't get the heading of the thread well right? Well i'll help clear you again;

firstly, the topic wasn't mine i only expantiated for few persons who found it hard to understand what the op wrote.

Secondly; The heading said "stories behind the hymn and not who composed it" . Gracias
