General By John Chuks Azu | Publish Date: Jul 2 2018 11:07AM facebooktwitter goolge plus linkdin like (0 Likes) BREAKING: Court frees Dasuki on bail A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the release of former National Security Adviser ( NSA), Sambo Dasuki on bail. Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu on Monday granted Dasuki bail in the sum of N200m bail bonds and two sureties each in like sum. Justice Ojukwu ruled that the sureties, must be public servants of no less than Grade Level 16, and must deposit evidence of last promotion to the court registrar. The Judge directed that where the sureties are private persons, the court are to pay same amounts, adding that a deposit of the sum of N100m will be made to the bank account of the court. The judge said the sureties must be owners of landed properties in the FCT and must deposit original copies of the land title to the court registrar. She said Dasuki's international passport should remain with the court. The judge ruled that Dasuki's detention without trial is a violation of his fundamental rights as provided by the constition. Dasuki is facing charges over the diversion of the sum of $2.1 billion arms funds in different courts of the FCT. He should be able to meet the requirement easily. The problem, however, is that he might be rearrested immediately after meeting those conditions. It does not appear that the government wants him roaming free, however little it might be. Those who are goading the government on the violation of fundamental human right and disregard for court orders should realise that those who hold the handle of the sword today may find themselves at the other end of the same sword tomorrow. Dasuki should not go scot-free if he indeed helped himself and his cronies with public fund, just let his prosecution be done within the ambit of the law |

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday affirmed the bail granted the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, in the charge of unlawful possession of firearms and money laundering brought against him by the Federal Government. Mr. Dasuki had in 2015 been admitted to bail by Justice Adeniyi Ademola, but the bail order was not obeyed by the federal government.
