As promised,

We keep seeing "where is the beat place to do this or that", especially in terms of hospitals. Guys, we did the homework for you. And we all use this service, infact the only time I personally think it's overreated is for my eyecare. Otherwise, the day I needed to be rushed to the hospital, I was glad I wasn't looking for cash on hand. Please read:

My son has been running high temperature for 2weeks now. I took him to Angelic care children s
Hospital in Abuja, full blood count test was done , it came out positive (1+) iinjections and drugs like lokmal, camoquine was given yet it persisted . His head is always hot. We did another test but this time blood culture and nothing was seen. We did another full blood count and It came out positive again (1+) drugs were given yet he's is still down with fever. He is very weak. Pls what do I do?. And any recommendation of another children's hospital in Abuja will be appreciated pls.

Hello mama, go and buy glucose. Add it to his food and water. Keep your baby well hydrated. Offer both the glucose water and normal water. It is possible the baby has a viral infection. The antibiotics may not help.

Fever in children is not necessarily bad as we always assume. When children develop fever, it is the way their body fights off infection by producing heat to burn off the bacteria/virus.
If you have taken an antibiotics and cleared of malaria, as long as the temperature is under 40*C and the child is above 6 months with no underlying medical condition,it’s not a red flag.

My son just came out of this yesterday. I got a 39.7 one night and I didn’t sleep for some days because I was constantly checking his temperature.

My tips for handling fever:
1. Note the temperature.
2. I bathe/ pour lukewarm water on the child. This reduces the temp better than just using wet cloth.
3. Then give paracetamol/nurofen. I interchanged at interval.
4. Wore the baby loose clothes if necessary to avoid cold. If the baby gets cold, he may start shivering and that will make the body to produce more heat.
5. Offer small portion of food at interval to curb throwing up due to high fever.
6. I give glucose water. The logic is this, the body burns energy as it produces heat and you need to replenish this for strength and the brain needs it too.
7. If your baby is like mine that takes the glucose water sparingly, I mix his food and milk with glucose and give him plain water frequently. I also give lots of fruits, it helps.
8. If you do 3 and 4 and the temperature keep rising upto 37-37.5 for 0 to 3 months, 37.5-38 for 3 to 6months, 39.5 for above 6 months, head to the hospital.

For babies 0 to 2 months and preemies, all high temperature should be resolved in the hospital.
If your child is not eating, lethargic or seems non responsive, head to the hospital.
Mothers should insist that a test be carried out before they start any antibiotics. Nigerians, stop abusing antibiotics.

Have your family doctor or paed’s number. You don’t know when you’ll need it.

Hello mummys
I’m a ftm with a 2weeks old. I’m handling baby alone as no older one is avaliable where I am. I’m breast feeding and had a 3 degree tear which is healing up. What more can I do to heal faster and get tighter as I was ttc for 7years so I want to start up for another child and what meals will help me keep up with breastfeeding. How can I take better care of babysnd help build sleeping patterns as I have barely slept since delivery as he spits up after feeding as he hardly burbs so I have to sit him up for 30mins before laying him down and can only sleep when he’s in my arms so if he spits up from month or nose-I can quickly attend. Pls post all counsels as none will be a waste as it’s all new to me. Also my naval is still protruding, what can I do to help? Thanks so much Mummys

Am soo saddddddddd. embarassed embarassed

Never being this vexed when someone or me destroyed something.

Went out for just 20 mins to get fuel and i returned to meet my kids playing with the cotton rod. For like a min i was wondering where they got It from, how did they remove it? Coming closer i noticed a blank tv with a voice but no vision, broken, the rod itself is bent, like they badly smashed the rod on it. Whyyyy embarassed embarassed.

I wish i can just replace it before their dad returns. Just so saddddddddd.

They were listening to their most loved songs when i left them. What moved them to playing with the cotton to the point of falling the rod, how come? I should have locked them up in their room!!!!

I cant stop ranting, whyyyyyyy.

Dont want to even check jumia for the cost now, i fit cry like them.

Going to sleep no cooking, na garri dem go drink sleep today. I will package that garri go school with them tomoro. Their teacher will know what they did.

Some babies react to milk, try doing without it for three days, watch baby, feed only one food, the pap or rice,it's well with our babies.

Sorry,Mama you should be testifying, rather ranting.
Curtain rod could have injured any of them or they could be hurt from the TV.
Nothing replaces life, hospital bill is more expensive.
In all ,thank God.
We are guilty of leaving kids at home to run errands but is never the best option.
Kids break our hearts, yet we love and cherish them, please forgive.

Angelic Care is a good hospital for kids. The owner is a consultant at National hospital. If you are not satisfied with their services you can also try Limi children’s Hospital or zankli hospital

Someone should please answer this mama o. Don't know why i just feel for her.

Mama two weeks is really a short time. I had tear too, my mum always told me to keep legs closed, sit on a wooden stool. My doctor told me not to sit on warm water till i was 2weeks pp, i ended up not siting on it at all. I only just use warm water with dettol when bathing. At a point i think one of my my stitch got loose but i lock up and it healed just fine. Although i didn't feel totally fine till i was 2months pp. You can do sitz bath regularly with warm water to heal up, take your drugs too. I also took vitamin c daily for 2months to heal me up.

As per burping, i used to sit my baby up on my lap to burp but i hardly got any out till i changed position. Now i carry up on my shoulder and firmly tap his back and he burps really well now. I never experienced the spitting up thing.

As per sleep pattern, i didnt develop any. He sleeps when he wants. But i assure u that with time it will get better, he almost has a routine now. I can almost predict when he wants to sleep. I understand how rough it is now, i was equally alone till my mum came, those days were very hard for me.

And as per trying for another baby, mama, the same God that did this one, will do another for u at His time. Give your body time to heal, dont stress it. Childbirth isn't a pot of beans o.

It will end in praise.

Other sabi mamas will say more

Congrats. Waoo, after 7 years!!!!, mine was 5 years. God is faithful. Taking vitamin c helps wound heal very fast.

I had experience with my son not burping fast after eating. It was really bad that i must always watch other people feed him cos they may not be patience as i would. What i did was feeding him slowly with little quantity but i increased the number of times i feed him daily. This did not help to totally stop it but reduced it. One day i just started rubbing his back as in from up-down, up-down, on n on and he belch so loud, never experienced that with him, that day i lay him down and nothing came out for the first time.

That was what i continued doing till he stopped. Ypu may apply this method and ensure he belch before letting him sleep.

Another thing the paediatrician advised me was folding soft cloth, not making it so high and place it under his head while is lying down, but that did not help as well. The back rubbing did the job really well for us.

Please don't get him used to you always carrying him pleaseeeeeee. Dont even back him, except it is highly necessary.

@iwuoahsamuels vitamins C will definitely help you heal faster, do your sitz bath and Kegel exercises to firm up down there.

Since you've established breast milk just eat right and well and also feed or express constantly so your body will keep producing.

At night feed your baby under dim lights just enough for you to see his face so that he can easily fall back to sleep and tell the difference between day and night.

Shoulder burping works better due to the pressure your body puts on his tummy. Try burping between feeds instead of after feeding.

If you have somebody old enough to feed baby please express and let her feed baby while you sleep.

I started breastfeed my son whilst lying down from day 7 due to complications that made me unable to sit up and nurse! I had someone with me round the clock though to shift my Brest incase it's covering baby's nose as we slept.

About the naval please check with your doctor if it's bothersome or just allow it to go down with your tummy wuth time.

Just my little contribution! All the best.
