Anambra State Government demolishes burnt Total filling station at DMGS roundabout, Onitsha.

Kenechukwu Ofomah

A burnt filling station located at DMGS roundabout, Onitsha was today demolished by Anambra State Government.
The operation was led by the General Manager of the State Physical Planning Board, Mr Victor Okpoko, and jointly supervised by officials of the Board and Men of the Nigeria Police Force.
The former Total Filling Station, sited in a residential area in the heart of the commercial city of Onitsha, got burnt last year, destroying property and and buildings around.
The State Government had consistently written the developer to pull down the burnt structure without result, hence the operation.

Obi1kenobi:
But he can say he is related to an Aguleri or Aguata or Awka man because the military drew some lines on a map, abi? The Nze na Ozo tradition is hardly exclusive to Anambra communities though more predominant.

And no, there is no "like manner" thought process. You can try articulating specifically what they are if you care to. It's profoundly stuupid to foment some kind of homogeneous identity based on military era state creations. And grammatically illiterate to describe an entity as a "monolithic" one in a sentence, and then call the same entity a "melting pot" in the next sentence.
Bla bla bla...grammatically illiterate....bla bla bla.You are grasping at straws. You have not debunked any of the points I raised. Reading your post is like watching a wet paint dry, its lifeless and lacks conviction. Melting pot also means a place is rich in culture because of the variety. I have also explained in details some traditional practices common among Anambra people. Every Anambra town has Nze na Ozo and that is the foundation of our sociocultural structure because they are the ruling class before the white man arrived.

Can I make this any clearer....Like 1 +1 is 2....lol

From potentials to oasis of prosperity
"All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them." So said Walt Disney, that outstanding American entrepreneur, who changed the world of entertainment many years ago.

Many a great men have proved Walt Disney’s words to be true over and over again.

Governor Willie Obiano is fast proving those words in Nigeria.

Before he assumed office in 2014, Chief Willie Obiano envisioned an Anambra State that will be “the first choice investment destination and the hub for Industrialization and commercial activities”. He mapped out a Mission for ndi Anambra “to create a socially stable, business friendly environment that will attract both indigenes and foreigners to seek wealth creating opportunities in Anambra State.” Since March 17, 2014, Governor Obiano has pursued that Vision and Mission relentlessly.

It was the vigorous pursuit of that Vision and Mission that ensured that he won in all the 21 local government areas of the State in the November 18, 2017 Anambra State governorship election, thus earning him the sobriquet “the 21/21 Governor”. He is the first Governor in Nigeria to have won re-election in all the local government areas in his State.

Since his victory in that election, Governor Obiano has continued to hone his policies and programmes towards ensuring not only the total achievement of the Vision and Mission for Anambra State, but also to ensure enduring legacies which will continue to propel the State to even greater achievements.

One of his first steps upon re-election was to introduce a 50-year planning cycle for the State.

In the last one month, Obiano has been focusing on building new systems and re-engineering existing ones for the effective sustenance of the positive achievements of his administration, as well as for the entrenchment of the promotion of prosperity in Anambra State, in particular, and the South East region generally.

A little over a week ago, Governor Obiano re-jigged his energy policy for Anambra State with the inauguration of an 8-member Power Sector Development Committee. He re-appointed the previous Chairman, Engineer Chike Okonkwo, and a few members of the previous committee, just as he added new members with vast experience in the power sector.

Governor Obiano mandated the committee to develop a Power Masterplan and Implementation framework for the Anambra State. The committee is to ensure proper implementation of policies of the State government for the power sector and to promote the indigenization of knowledge, expertise and technology in the State power sector. The committee is also expected to devise sustainable ways to power the streetlights in the State.

The Obiano administration plans to provide captive power for industrial clusters in Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi and Ekwulobia, before the end of 2019. The power committee is expected to play a key role in the achievement of that goal.

In addition, the committee is expected to facilitate the attraction of foreign direct investment to develop the power sector, to advise government on renewable energy alternatives to explore, and to advise the State government on overall best practices to adopt with respect to development, production and distribution of power.

Anambra State is reputed to have the best networked roads in Nigeria. As part of his electoral promises, Governor Obiano had promised not only to continue to improve on the road networks but also upgrade the quality standards. Just as he inaugurated a committee for power, he has done the same thing for roads. He inaugurated a six-member Road Design Team for the State.

The team headed by the Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, is an ad-hoc committee of the State Executive Council, and has top among its terms of reference, to define minimum standards for roads and bridges design and construction in the State, to advise government on cost effective ways of road and bridge construction using modern technology, to evaluate designs done by consultants and ensure conformity with standards among others.

It will be recalled that shortly after he assumed office in 2014, Governor Obiano established the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) to anchor the State’s investment drive. The Agency swiftly became a One-Stop investment powerhouse, offering first class solutions to all investment enquiries.

By the end of the first of Governor Obiano’s administration, ANSIPPA had signed 42 MoUs valued at USD 5.4 billion across various sectors in the State valued. Of that amount, USD 1.6 billion came from the indigenes of Anambra State alone. Some of them including the USD 200 million Coscharis mechanized rice farm located in Anaku, the USD 180 million JOSAN Agro Limited integrated farm in Ufuma and Umumbo, and the USD 180 Lynden Farms Limited modern integrated poultry farm in Igbariam have become major success stories.

ANSIPPA also sealed a partnership for the construction of a $17 million bonded container terminal in Ozubulu. The State Government has since applied to the Federal Government for concessionary rights on Onitsha-Enugu Expressway and the Onitsha River Port to enable the State drive its vision of infrastructural development to fulfillment.

It may also be recalled that shortly after Governor Obiano was inaugurated for a second term, he embarked on international road shows aimed at attracting foreign direct investments critical to the achievement of his dream of a new Anambra State, a State that will be self-reliant and self-sustaining. The first stop was Chicago, USA, where he met both Anambra State indigenes as well as other potential US-based investors.

Towards the end of last week, Governor Obiano was on a three-day trip to Austria. His first stop was Vienna where he delivered a keynote address to the Nigeria-Austria Business Forum. Thereafter, Governor Obiano and his team made several presentations to different groups of potential investors in Austria.

Addressing the Nigeria-Austria Business Forum, Governor Obiano told the gathering that “we have the largest retail market in West Africa. With an economy of N3.8 trillion, Anambra has the lowest poverty rate in Nigeria with $1,615 per capita. And if Anambra were an independent country, our GDP would be 17th in Africa. We have great tourism potentials with the Ogbaukwu Caves and Waterfalls in Owerre-Ezukala and Ogbunike Cave in Ogbunike. Anambra is the 10th most populous state in Nigeria with a population density of 860 per square kilometre. And in the past four years, we have been Nigeria’s safest State.”

Dwelling on what he met in office and the achievements so, Governor Obiano told the audience “I think we have an inspiring story. Anyone who is familiar with the recent history of Anambra State would testify that out of a rocky mountain of despair, we have hewed out an admirable pathway for hope for our people. And I am optimistic that our trip to Austria shall add a sparkling new chapter to this evolving narrative of hope.”

Inviting potential investors for a partnership with Anambra State, Governor Obiano stated that “Anambra State is in a hurry to turn the inherent promise of its human and material capital into a measurable lived experience. We want to quickly move from being seen as a state with immense potentials to an oasis of prosperity in Nigeria. It is for this reason that we are looking for new partners and new capacities that will help us exploit our natural endowments to meet our expectations. We have over 40 trillion standard cubic feet of gas that has not been touched yet. We need partners that will exploit these rich reserves of gas to our mutual benefits. We need partners for the establishment of modular refineries.

He further told the audience “we also need partners in the power generation, agriculture, agro-allied industries and in the establishment of Industrial Parks. Similarly, with our immense endowments in tourism, we are looking for partners that will help us develop the Ogbunike Cave and Ogbaukwu Caves and Waterfalls into attractive leisure places. Other areas of need include the construction of an Inter-city Light Rail that will link up our major cities of Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi.”

MOM’s Sunday Revue learnt from very reliable sources that Governor Obiano’s next stop will be China where he is expected to hold discussions on the speedy prosecution of the Anambra International Airport City project, as well as concretize other programmes involving Chinese investments in Anambra State.

Anambra State is certainly on a journey to turn its fortunes from those of a State with immense potentials to an oasis of prosperity in Nigeria.

If a place is rich in a "variety" of cultures/sub-cultures, then it is not "monolithic", you thicko. grin How many times must such a simple concept be repeated before it percolates your skull? Again, the Nze na Ozo tradition is not exclusive to Anambra clans and has its specific roots in Nri, which was subsequently adopted by many other Igbo sub-cultures both in Anambra and outside. You have no substantive point, so I'm not sure what you think has not been "debunked".

Who other than an ethnic supremacist speaks like this:

An average Anambra man is well culturally astute than other Igbos due to our very rich cultural background
Our style of music, singing and and dance style has this elegance and grace to it...It is very different from the rest of Igbos who their women mostly dance in an immoral way with their butts shaking
Make no mistake about it these people hates us because of our achievements, culture and mindset and we must keep that in our minds.
Inter marriages with these people must stop if we want to maintain the status quo in our state. Marrying outside Anambra will bastardize our culture and weaken our loyalty to Anambra. When you marry foreign women they introduce you to foreign culture which can stain the sacredness of our land.
Igbo Izugbe , to begin with must be scrapped because its an affront to our language.
Some of these guys that have no affiliation to Anambra are probably married to non Anambra woman just like some of our women who will marry anybody just out of desperation to get married. Time will come when if both your parents arent from Anambra then you are not full Onye Anambra.

I love what I am seeing. It’s about time we finally take solar power seriously.

I think innoson, zinox and ibeto should partner together in a joint venture to start a solar panel manufacturing plant. That would be a dream come true.

Innoson will manufacture the panels

Ibeto will manufacture the battery storage

Zinox will produce the computer and software to manage the system.

Hopefully, people will adequately learn how to align the batteries for the best charge and reduced draining of the cells.

All the same, this is a very good development. Hopefully very soon, we will have cheaper and more efficient solar panels and better batteries for power storage. That will gradually replace the use of noisy, fuel guzzling generators for power in Nigeria.

More dumb fucckery. grin "I dont see how saying am better than somebody makes me a supremacist".
Let me help you with a simple Google definition:

supremacist
suːˈprɛməsɪst,sjuːˈprɛməsɪst/Submit
noun
1.
an advocate of the supremacy of a particular group, especially one determined by race or sex.
"a white supremacist"

This is pretty self-explanatory to anyone with the basic reading skills of an 8-year-old. If you claim your group is superior to others, it makes you a "supremacist". LITERALLY.
You're free to stand by your juvenile pomposity. It's your choice. And no, most of what is Igbo "culture" today didn't originate from Anambra. Ndigbo are a heterogeneous group with a very complex (and not very well documented) history. Probably the 2 most prominent ancient civilizations are Nri and Arochukwu and we've existed even before their rise to prominence.

See the convoluted twaddle he is spinning. grin Of course I know you will never concede the point out of embarrassment and delusions of intellectual grandeur, but your ramblings above make no sense. A cultural melting pot has nothing to do with richness in a monolithic culture, but a harmonious balance between various cultures/sub-cultures in the same place. Cities like London and New York are called melting pots. They are the total opposites of a monolithic culture. A city like Pyongyang is an example of a monolithic culture. Anambra is not culturally monolithic in any way. A cultural melting pot cannot be a monolith. You're far too thick to understand the contradiction and I'm giving up indulging the same cyclical arguments as it's a waste of my time.

And biko, a tradition other Anambra communities copied from Nri traditions doesn't make the state a mono-culture. Neither is it some important invention. You make it sound like we split the atom or discovered DNA or pioneered a space mission because of some recognition system of elites in our society.

*Operation Lights Up Onitsha North by the Capacity Chairman of ONLG Hon. Patrick Agha Mba*

Things we needed to know about the newly installed LED Solar Lights at Mba Road Inland Town Onitsha.

This is the latest design LED Solar Light with inbuilt Battery, not like the Solar Lights we see other places that runs with outside battery once the battery is stolen it will automatically stop working, indeed this is a legacy, kudos to, Hon. AGHA MBA, he always gives his people the best and his people are happy.
if eveyother persons should be targeting to give service delivery to his people, Anambra State will have the style of a new modern Cities likes, of Dubai, London, etc. Because Lights are very important, which is one of the Gov Willie Obiano's Dreams for Ndi Anambra.

*Also all the major areas has been lighted*
