The first plate with 102*** is what comes with the car when you pick up from the insurance guys. He obviously took a car note.

How are they different?

The picture from the gas station was a temporary plates expiring on June, 22. That was an old picture, you will even notice that the car was a bit more newer on that pic.

Temporary plates does not tell how someone paid for their car.

When you buy a car either new or used, whether it is cash n carry or financed your registration have to be submit to the State’s motor vehicle authority, but while they process your documents which take days or approximately a week, you can get on the spot temporary plates or dealer plates, which enables you to legally operates the vehicle until your permanent plates arrives in your mailbox or you pick them up at the dealer (optional and depends if you elect to pick it up at the dealer).
