Obiano Tours Waste-to-Energy Company in Vienna, Austria By James Eze The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano took his quest for a better Anambra to the premises of Energie Versorgung Margarethin GmbH, (EVM) Biomethan Station in Vienna. The company has built up a reputation in the conversion of waste to electric power and gas. In visiting EVM, Governor Obiano was looking for how to convert the huge waste generated in Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka to electricity that we are dire need of as well as gas. The CEO of EVM, Mag. Wermer Wenolf was delighted to receive Governor Obiano and his team and take them on tour of his energy plant. The Governor and his team later held preliminary conversations on the possibilities of setting up a similar project in Anambra State. At the moment, there are strong indications that EVM and Anambra State might go into a partnership that will turn the heaps of waste generated across the state into electricity and lead to the creation of jobs and more jobs for the people. Here are some photographs of the visit -

I love how guys are putting all green energy systems in place. Men, see solar boilers are being installed in Onitsha! i have only seen this in Australia. Yet, it's already taking shape in Anambra! Tomorrow some eediot will tell me that there is no new innovation by Nigerians to solve the power crisis once and for all. The way homes finally solved the water crisis that ravaged the SE in the 1980s and 1990s through building home with boreholes as a basic standard home today. With all these innovations, soon people living in Nigeria will be more comfortable than those living abroad. Right now, the only attraction abroad is stable electricity, which people will soon be getting through solar electricity.

Obi1kenobi:This is completely senseless. You have a major comprehension problem. I have claimed Anambra has a monolithic culture and backed it up with intimidating facts but you are yet to support your weak argument with a modicum of fact and convince us ,neither have your disproved my points. The joke is on you. Again , Anambra is a cultural melting pot because of the ricnness of their culture....That is a cultural PARLANCE! Until you are ready to challenge the facts I laid dont quote me again. |

A Visit to the Plastic Bridge in Vienna By James Eze Governor Obiano also visited the bridge built with plastic materials picked out from waste dumps during his tour of Vienna. The bridge is tourist site in the city ad it runs across the famous Danube River. Please note that it is only the floor of the bridge that is made of plastic. Since we generate a lot of disposed plastic materials that block drainage and waterways across Nigeria, may be we can start looking at other things that we can build with them. Here are some photographs of the tour and a short video... |

investnow2013:Solar cannot solve power problems it can only alleviate it. Solar is good for lighting, LED tvs and for boilers but after that it becomes prohibitively expensive. You cannot for example run a factory with solar. For Anambra there needs to be more innovation around natural cooling. At least 50-80% of energy in buildings is spent on cooling. Yet there are many things we can do to bring temperatures down within buildings. For example, high ceilings, ventilation, reflective windows, window shades, planting trees, exterior wall thickness. |

The government should set a design and structural standard which will be built in a particular area or region of the state. Especially structures on major roads. This practice would bring uniformity of structures like we see in developed cities like tokyo, new york e.t.c. NOTE: Not just setting a standard but also executing the law by punishing offenders. REPLIES PLEASE |

See how Anambra people are dividing the entire Igbo race on social media. You guys have derailed the Imo trend and the Enugu trend and you guys are also derailing your own Anambra trend. You guys divide NdIgbo across state lines and when I taught it was going to end there, you guys are now dividing yourselves across Local government, community and ancestor lines. Imagine the stupid arguments of Omambala and Anaedo, Ihiala and Nnewi, Obosi and Onitsha etc within the same state. Are you guys cursed? Please I want to use this opportunity to beg you guys not to derail the IMO trend any further and please stop all these your Wawa and Abakaliki discrimination. Omambala1, NonsoWow and Ykesy (or whatever they call this idiot), please stop the arguments. Chinolization, Asha90 and oneeast should stop destroying other state's trends. |

Stnomso:It is called building codes. All developed nations have it and strictly adhere to it. That’s why they have the uniformity and organization that we all admire. Nigerian association of civil engineers have come up with building codes on their own but there is no serious adoptions of it on the state and federal level. Also there is no enforcement. Abuja and some parts of Lagos are the only places that I see that take building codes very seriously. |

Niccoloimhotep:I don't believe all those boys are from Anambra. In Anedo area (Ichi, Nnewi, Oraifite) of my state, we thrive on competing with foreigners and winning. I am yet to see an Anambra person so afraid or thinking foreigners will defeat them in anyway and killing themselves to prove who is Anambrarian and who isn't. Unlike other Nigerians who are dead scared of foreigners, the reason an average Anambra person don't mind foreigners in our area is because we are confident of ourselves that we are not lazy and whatever a human can do, we will do it and beat them in it. Look at Cosmas Maduka, he is a true Anambra embodiment. Again, I don't believe those boys are from Anambra. Whether they call themselves Anambra_pikin or Anambra_love or whatever name they use to deceive themselves here. |

Of course I know you will never concede the point out of embarrassment and delusions of intellectual grandeur, but your ramblings above make no sense. A cultural melting pot has nothing to do with richness in a monolithic culture, but a harmonious balance between various cultures/sub-cultures in the same place. Cities like London and New York are called melting pots. They are the total opposites of a monolithic culture. A city like Pyongyang is an example of a monolithic culture. Anambra is not culturally monolithic in any way. A cultural melting pot cannot be a monolith. You're far too thick to understand the contradiction and I'm giving up indulging the same cyclical arguments as it's a waste of my time.
