Yesterday, a youth corps member, Linda Angela Igwetu, who was meant to pass out today July 5th, was shot dead by a trigger-happy policeman in Abuja.
Linda was out celebrating her passing out with her friends when the policeman shot the car she was in. She sustained gunshot wound and was rushed to Garki hospital but the hospital refused treating her because there was no police report authorizing them to treat her gunshot wound. She bled to death.
Falz, who is also a trained lawyer, says no hospital has the right to deny even an armed robber treatment, See his other tweet below

Who mentioned here it the deceased that was driving? Comparing with an embassy is just plain stupid, you know why? Cos the car wasn't driving towards an embassy. The car was driving away, an open air car, meaning the policeman could clearly see the passengers and decide for himself the threat they posed as they drove away. For a car driving away, it would mean they were no threat to him, so why shoot at the car? Cos they refused to drop the usual?

First he never said the girl was right not to stop he simply said the hospital shouldn't have denied her treatment because of police report.

Secondly, driving directly towards an embassy at top speed is different from driving on a high way don't forget there are chances she didn't notice the police or they mounted a checkpoint impromptu in an unusual point.

So should you be driving at a recklessly high speed at 3am regardless of the safety of others on the road ? So their own lives don't matter ?

Whats d essence of plate numbers, of the speedy pickup vehicles allocated to them on checkpoints, its simply for engaments with respect to policing. They should have engaged the driver, block and surrender him bearing in mind he might have some illegal or dangerous luggages or whateva. How could u pull d trigger against a civilian whom u are not sure he bore arms whatsoever. People like u are the reasons Nigrians die everyday, u are yoruba and so u av chosen to be foolish and callow in ethnicism against goodwill. Nigeria lawmakers are always in a haste to creat a law but wouldn't check if it's gona affect in the long run.

Now an innocent girl was shot and she was rushed to the hospital, in the first place, the law makers should have taught about the delay on getting the police report and all that, before all these are completed, the victim might have died.

Some claim to know but they know nothing. All their laws are useless and need to be reformed.

There was a directive or so from Police or NASS that hospital should be treating victims of gunshot wounds without recourse to Police report. The death of Angela is a manifestation of wickedness and man's inhumanity to a fellow man from the hospital management. Even as a youth corper who is serving her father's land they refused to treat her. We keep retrogressing in this country on daily basis. RIP to the dead.

I don't know what you mean by "she defy the order of the cop to come out of the car" but then I'm still very sure that it didn't give the cop an automatic right to shoot her.

This is one big issue that needs to be addressed.
The police to me are the major culprits. Most hospitals are scared because after treatment they get harrased by police claiming they are helping criminals.
I hope my post gets enough attention to draw the lawmakers to look into this issue. It can start from nairaland. You never know.!
