My all time movies... difficult but I'd pick these. 1. The Great Debaters During post-abolition US 1935, a black professor who is also a labor union leader, entrenches in his black students knowledge, equality and proactive emancipation of the black man from the superior whites. Through his debate team-The Wiley College team and they were the First Negro College to defeat Havard University in a debate. Based on true life events. Denzel Washington, Forest Whitaker, Denzel Whitaker. 2. The Ultimate Gift A very wealthy man died and left a vast wealth tangibles and intangibles. In his will, he wanted his first grandson to inherit the family's wealth. He gave only scanty properties to his other children due to their profligate tendencies. However, his first son whom he would have preferred coz he's different had died and has a son -the grandson. The grandson will only be eligible to claim the gifts (wealth) if and only if he passes some tests through tasks administered and monitored by the family attorney who is the best friend to the boy's grandpa. 3. In Pursuit of Happyness The travails and triumphs of a stock exchange protege-Christopher who beat all odds to be the best father to his son while deserted by his wife.... Based on true events. Will Smith and his son Jayden Smith 4. '3 Idiots' A movie i recommend for all Jambites during orientation. It's about 3 undergrads in Engineering school. The facts, fictions, twists and plots that life has to offer and how diverse factors affect decisions we make and consequences. The movie balances humor, romance, morals, knowledge. 5. Saworoide A Yoruba all-time classic from Mainframe productions. Depicts the socio-economic events that happened in Nigeria under Babangida/Shonekan/Abacha. Set in a town Jogbo, the permutations of culture and governance, the corruption of the leaders and betrayal s thereof. I never get tired of #1 and #5. mavinjay1:The thread is for individual choices. My top5 doesn't have to be your top 5. Generation(age range) of viewers usually determine which movie(s) they will love most. Most elderly people in their 40s, 50s will most likely add a James Bond movie in their list. That's to show you motion picture interest is very divergent. Lastly the topic said top movies one like to watch over and over. I'm sure most ppl who dropped a comment will acknowledge LOTR trilogy as a great movie in their list. But questions are Does it make their top 5? Do they like to watch it severally over? What interests them in a movie? Is it knowledge, adventure, intelligence, research, morals, contemporary trends and beliefs, technology, history, or art? The priority we place will always be different and automatically affect which movies make our different list. I love Harry Potter for example, most people do but if it doesn't make their top 5, I am not qualified to think they are not great movie fans. Learn to respect people's choice and not judge their sentiments. The fact that LOTR makes your list doesn't make you a great movie fan, the fact that LOTR doesn't make their list doesn't make you a better movie fan than them. The OP wanted and/or was expecting diverse lists from different people that's why the thread was created. If everyone is to have the same idea of "Top 5" then we would have a boring thread full of repetition. LOTR, 2012, Unfaithful, War of the Arrows, In Time, Titanic, Immitation Game, Theory of Everything, Django Unchained......are all movies I love to watch over and over but they didn't make my Top 5 because 5 can't be 15 or 20, five is 5.
