Southeast are least of drugs seizure among all regions in Nigeria
So because drugs were seized in a state, it automatically means it was seized from indigenes of that state?

Ahmadu Giade, the NDLEA chairman.

The agency said it had successfully prosecuted 1,501 cases, out of which 1,491 cases were won, while 10 were lost and 701 cases are pending as of December 2011.

The NDLEA's Chairman, Ahmadu Giade, who disclosed this at a media briefing in Lagos, noted that there was an increase of 1,851 in the number of persons arrested in 2011, over that of 2010.

According to him, the largest seizures of drugs were recorded in the South-West and South-South states, adding that it was an indication that more effort was required to halt the spread of the substances in the country.

"Ondo State had the highest seizures with 55,473.31 kg, Edo is second with 40,633 kg, while Delta is third with 26,823.14 kg.

"Oyo recorded a seizure of 15,331.37 kg to take the fourth position, while Lagos state came fifth with 10,406.1 kg,'' Mr Giade said.

The NDLEA Chairman said thatKano State had the highest number of arrests in relations to drug offences with 1,281, adding that Lagos came second with 382 suspects, made up of 339 males and 44 females.
The chairman said the agency also recorded seizures of amphetamine stimulants in the northern states of Borno and Zamfara.

On the total number of arrested suspects, the chairman said that 8,072 were males and 567 females, while cannabis sativa (Indian hemp) constituted the largest seizures with 191,847.91 kg.

"Psychotropic substances are 2,985.45 kg; cocaine is 410.805 kg, while heroin is 39.752 kg,'' he explained.
According to the NDLEA chairman, when compared with the seizures made in 2010, the quantity of drugs seized in 2011 weighed 178,120.725 kg, with cannabis having the highest quantity of 174,661.59 kg.
"Psychotropic substances came next with 2,550.622 kg, followed by cocaine with 706.433 kg, while heroin is 202.08 kg,'' Mr. Giade said.

Similarly, the NDLEA Chairman announced that a total of 918 hectares of cannabis farmlands were traced and destroyed in Delta, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Ogun and Oyo states in 2011.

West Top southeast in Drugs sizure and conviction statistics in Nigeria, west top on Cannabis, while east control cocaine, Drugs doesn't end with Cocaine. Go and check data released Cocaine was the least, Cannabis top that chart, Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has shown that 309,713kg of drugs were seized in 2017. A total of 191,353 kg of Cannabis was also seized within the period under review. This represents 61.8 per cent of the total drug seized. Tramadol followed closely with 96,136kg seized representing 31 per cent of the total drug seized.

Were those drugs seized from Yorubas? The fact that Southwest tops the chart does not mean Yorubas have the highest numbers of drug dealers. It only means that more drugs are seized here. It doesn't mean they were seized from Yorubas. There are a lot of non-Yorubas doing business in Ibadan, for instance.

Evans is an Igbo. If a kidnapping chart is drawn for Lagos State, Evan's activity will be registered as well.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in North West is seeking public assistance in the search of four suspects who were apparently part of a transnational drug syndicate which operated around North West and Gauteng provinces respectively in South Africa...

The accused; Pedro Odoeman (45), Obi Kingsley Odoeman (42), Kennedy Duru (42), Clifford Okebaram (39), were arrested in 2009 following a Hawks and Crime Intelligence project driven investigation.

The Johannesburg High Court has since issued warrants for their arrest. The South African Police Service urges anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the Investigating Officer, Constable Justice Thatelo on 071 481 2777 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.

In as much as i always condemn every action that could tarnish the country's image, we really need to look at the root cause of their hell-bent determination of "making it". Most ladies in the country especially in that zone wont even see your presence if you are not in the pictured class. Hence the "get rich syndrome", d marriage flamboyance should be looked into too.
