Engine Overhaul Or Tokumbo Engine Advice! by benefitzte(op): 3:21pm On Jul 05, 2018
I have a BMW 3 series with M52TUB20 engine that has started consuming like 1L of oil after about 250km, engine runs fine with slight loss of power but no DTCs when scanned.
One mechanic advised I keep using car then later on when it gets really bad(since I won't get any value if I want to sell d old one) get a tokumbo replacement.
Main mechanic is suggesting an engine overhaul which I have never done before.

Kindly advice from experience pls

It recommends an engine overhaul...given that it is a general fault of that engine, how are you sure a Tokyo engine sold without mileage will not have the same?

As long as it would be done properly, there's nothing wrong with overhauling it. But if you don't feel comfortable, and have got the cash, go ahead with a replacement.

But what if......that's the scenario.
