We present the first Nairaland Vehicle History Challenge!



Format:

The vehicle VIN to be posted at commencement of the challenge has been scrambled and appears as random single or groups of letters and numbers.

Where a group of numbers or letters appear together, they have been pre-arranged for you in the correct order, and should then be assembled with the other single or groups of letters/numbers to form the correct VIN.

The total number of digits is 17, as in a regular vehicle VIN.

How to win:

1. Rearrange the single or groups of numbers and letters to form the correct VIN.

2. Use the reassembled correct VIN to retrieve information from any sources about the vehicle in the following format:

( Clean, Salvage)

1. The vehicle was manufactured in France

2. The VIN check digit is 3

3. The vehicle is not a coupe

Rules:

1. The challenge will run for 12 hours.

*Extended to 30 Hours

2.All submissions made will be recorded soon after submission, so any editing should be done quickly.

3. The following are disqualified from attempting the challenge in the spirit of fair play for obvious reasons:

4. The first 3 participants with the most valid and correct information at the end of the competition period, will be declared winners, and will receive cash prizes.

5. The next 5 participants with the most valid and correct information will receive a free AutoCheck Vehicle History Report each.

6. The competition will start at 9am on Saturday 7th July 2018. 10 minutes before start, at 8:50am, the scrambled VIN will be posted.

Why am I disqualified?

it's either your game wasn't described well or it will just be too tough.

I cant have brain eruption ontop hustling because I see your game as hustling than fun, but I will stay tuned I can learn 1 or 2 things from vin decoding.

How can we make it easier or less complicated? Suggestions?

don't bother I now got it, just that some information cannot be gotten free though like title (salvage) but others can easily be gotten with the vin intact. I can get vehicle name, make, model, engine type, initial colour, etc but other information outside manufacturer stock can't be gotten free like registration, colour change, salvage/accident title etc

also remove cash price and instead fix prices as car accessories: tyre inflator, vaccum cleaner, car shampoo, mp3 transmitters, etc etc.

We considered the prizes sir, but we felt cash would be less complicated and more appreciated for this first edition. The cash prizes will be of various sums awarded in estimated order of merit.

For future editions of the challenge, we may consider diversifying the prizes, based on the response to this edition.
