I would urge you to check the history of the character that you are talking to and the role he has played in the disruption of this forum. I respect you as a person but I expected you to know better.

He went from one of the most anti igbo character on nairaland, Then suddenly he became pro-Anambra towards obiano election campaign last year.

I won’t respond to him if he quotes me. I and others who have been paying attention know his true mission.
I definitely was not referring to you. I have read EVERY post in this forum. So i know those who have been doing exactly what i was referring to.

Memories of Governor Willie Obiano's Visit To Austria: Searching for the Key to Better Anambra

While on his recent investment tour of Austria, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State stopped over at Magna International Inc. in the city of Graz, where the famous Mercedes G-Wagon series is manufactured. He was received by the company Chief, Mr Wolfgang Zitz.

Later, the Governor and his team were given a tour of the enormous facility by Magna. There were two interactive sessions where the Governor and his team asked crucial questions that offered great insights into the intricacies of auto manufacturing.

As the governor of the only state with a serious comparative advantage in the auto industry, Governor Obiano showed a great deal of interest in what makes auto manufacturing a big business in Europe in a bid to pick up important leads that might be useful to the Nnewi automobile clusters.

Me too.I just love that guy. You don't need to be told he is truly an Anambrarian, interested in the development of Anambra state and seeking great ways to showcase the potential and progress of the state.

Compare his effort to people who want to divide Anambra people and Igbo people, claiming Nnewi people are not as Anambra as Anam or Aguleri people. You clearly see through the thinly veiled pretences of such people that they want to provoke ethnic hatred and disunity among core Anambra groups. If that is their aim, you immediately know they are not Anambra people even if they chose monikers as developAnambra or AnambraMyBelovedState or AnambraRiver01. It is all their silly pretences to hide their identity to cause havoc pretending to be Anambra people.

Nobody is deceived by their silly pranks. By their fruits, you shall know them.
Core Anambrarians Indeed,so I am not "Core Anambrarian" because i do not insult and denigrate other Igbo states especially ndi ebonyi like the so called core Anambrarians do here and on other forums?
I don't want to be core anambrarian,i am cool with being an Alor man from idemili south

Thank you

I wonder why so many people from Anambra are insecure. Because that's what it is. Somebody who's confident about themselves and their own progress wouldn't be so threatened by and hostile to others. Omanbala1 is probably US based from the way he speaks, and the other accounts are Chino, but why are these 2-3 guys so passionate about their insecurity?

Housewife arrested for scalding maid with hot water for sleeping on her couch

Christiana Eze, a 31-year-old woman, has been arrested by the International Federation Of Women Lawyers, FIDA, for pouring hot water on her 13-year-old house maid, Beauty, for allegedly sleeping on her couch in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The incident happened on the 3rd of July, 2018. It was gathered that Beauty normally sleeps on the floor, but slept on the couch that fateful day because of cold, promoting the reaction from Christiana.

https://etimes.com.ng/housewife-arrested-for-scalding-maid-with-hot-water-for-sleeping-on-her-couch/

The following morning, she let the girl go to school in that condition and her teacher noticed and filed a report against the suspect. Beauty, from Edo State, accused Christiana of pouring hot water on her and using belt to flog her on the same spot she poured the hot water on, till her skin pilled peeled off.

It was gathered that for the last two years of the girl has stayed with Christiana, she knew nothing but torment and torture, a situation the neighbors attested to.

The security man also revealed that he gives Beauty food sometimes, because she eats once a day. Investigation further revealed that the girl doesn’t have a room in the house and her luggage is kept under the staircase, from where she dresses up.

Work Advances On Second Niger Bridge Project
08 JULY 2018

Early Work Four is advancing at the Odekpe_Ogbaru axis of the Second Niger Bridge.

ABS crew who visited the site saw engineers laying foundation for the pilings while the one earlier started is nearing completion.
A credible source from Julius Berger, the firm handling the Second Niger Bridge project said Early Work Four will be completed by end of July and if the actual contract is not awarded before then, they will vacate the site.

The source further pointed out that ten billion naira was allocated for the Second Niger bridge in this year's budget which he pointed out is below the estimated budget but expressed hope that the Federal Government will source the remaining fund from ancillary sources to take care of the project. On the Issue of compensation being paid to those whose structures were demolished at Odekpe to make way for the Second Niger Bridge.

The President General of Odekpe Community ,Hon.Vincent Okei said they heard from the media that some people were compensated but they were not carried along pointing out that even if compensation is paid to some people who bought land from Odekpe and erected structures, the land still remains Odekpe land hence the need to do the proper thing. He further said that the community liaison officer was supposed to be contacted for boundary demarcation before the demolition noting that apart from structures and buildings, economic trees, shrines and ponds were also involved in the things to be considered.

In response to the issue of compensation demanded from Julius Berger by Odekpe community, a source from Julius Berger made it clear that compensation is the affair of Ministry of Works, Power and Housing, stating that Julius Berger was contracted by the Federal Government under the Ministry of Works to execute the project and advised the affected communities to channel their claims to this Ministry.Respondents who spoke to the ABS on the Second Niger Bridge including Mr Nweze Ani,Frederick Okoye and Ikechukwu Ede expressed joy that work is moving on at the project adding that it will ease traffic and aid their businesses but urged the Federal Government to ensure the project is not abandoned half way due to under budgetary allocation, while Engineer Paschal Omeh pointed out that the work is still at the foundation level expecting to see the main construction work commence soon.

Anambra Govt To Install CCTV Cameras In Markets
08 JULY 2018

The state government says it will reposition all markets in the state to meet up with world standard.

The state Commissioner for Trade Commerce and Industry, Dr. Christian Madubuko, made this known during a meeting with traders at the Onitsha Main Market, where he liaised with the market leaders and some members on how best to handle the Closed-Circuit Television, CCTV camera project that the state government is about installing in the market for easy tracking of thieves.

Addressing the people, the Commissioner who commended the traders on their cooperation with the state government with emphasis on the last year's governorship election assured them that the Obiano administration will continue to carry them along and will also ensure that the CCTV camera project is executed in the market.

Commissioner Madubuko said that the CCTV camera when installed will help in dictating shop buglers and other sharp practices done in the market which are against the interests of the traders and the state government as well, promising that the camera will be mounted in all the market lines, and called for the cooperation of the market people on the project.

In their separate remarks, the President General Amalgamated Market Traders Association, AMATA, Anambra state, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo and the Chairman of Onitsha Main Market, Chief Ikechukwu Ekwegbalu, described the project as a welcome development and asked members to endeavour to cooperate with the market union during collection levies for the CCTV camera maintenance when the project is completed as their ability to maintain it determines its durability.

The Commissioner later proceeded to Azuogbunike where he inspected the ongoing new market project with about five hundred lockup shops being executed by Aluminum and Iron Dealers Association in the area.

Commissioner Madubuko commended the Association for embarking on such project without waiting for the government, and promised them that the Obiano government will assist them in some of the major challenges facing them such as access road and others.
On his part, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Okeke, thanked the Commissioner for visiting the site, and called on the state government to help them in providing good access road in the area, as well as to provide equipped fire service in the market when completed.

Spyder,
Thank you for the refreshing pictures,

I am hoping somebody will inform the Anambra State Government that the barriers on the express median has been broken and miscreants are now crossing the road again.

I don't know why people risk their lives to cross a high speed express on foot. I hope OCHA brigade begins to arrest them and fine each N20,000 every time you are caught crossing the express illegally without an overhead bridge

Can somebody begin to censor these distracting Niger Bridge pictures? It is bad enough that they don't want to build it, and worse they insult our intelligence with it.

It will take about 40 pillars to complete this bridge.

Every year they will erect one pillar and fill the air with the pictures of one pillar and Lie Mohammed will give speeches because they sunk one pillar!

In essence, we will wait 40 years to just complete sinking the pillars and perhaps another 40 years to cross the overhead beams.

The current Niger bridge took 6 months to build in 1965 and from a company that had less technology than Julius Berger.

Go figure!

My visit to SGL church Ikoyi, Lagos shows that Anambra is still looking underdeveloped. You guys here saying that onitsha and Awka are beautiful need to visit Victoria island, Ikoyi, old lekki and banana island all in Lagos to see what beauty is all about. From the 3 Igbo trends on nairaland ( Enugu, Imo and Anambra trends), I have seen that Enugu state looks local but has as much green environment as Ikoyi which has made some places like New haven and Independence layout as beautiful as Lekki, in Imo state, only Owerri is beautiful in the entire state but it is clearly the only resort city in Nigeria and the most beautiful Igbo city with moderately clean and green environment with nice structures and houses all around the city. Owerri is surely the most beautiful in Igbo land and it is the only city that can stand up to Lekki and Ikoyi in terms of beauty but can't stand up to Banana island and Victoria island because of lack of buildings of 9 storeys and above. As for Anambra, Onitsha and Awka are the most promising metropolis in Igboland but they lack greenery and are not serene in any way. The fast developing communities such as Awka, Nkwelle etc lack paved streets while the roads that are paved are dirty with red sand everywhere and they lack grass, flowers and trees. Not to forget, they is only one high rise building in the entire Igbo land and it is in a rural community in Anambra not even in Onitsha or Awka. As for those of you who think those houses in Onitsha are high rise buildings, you all should think again because a building is tagged high rise when it is up to 12 stories not 4 or 5 stories. From the pictures shown in the different trends, I can tell you that the most beautiful cities in the SE are Owerri at first place, Enugu at second place, Onitsha metro at third place and Awka metro at fourth place however, If the shanties in all major markets in Awka and Onitsha are destroyed and the house owners are ordered to paint their houses with bright colours as well as plant flowers and trees and government does its own role in paving 90% of the streets in these metropolitan areas, Onitsha metro, is definitely going to be among the most beautiful cities in Africa because it presently has the multi story buildings in place to give it a modern city look. All Onitsha and Awka metros need is just polishing and strict laws which must be obeyed by all house owners but for now, believe it or not, Owerri is the most beautiful city in the SE and SS regions.
Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by oneeast:
What sort of insecurity is this? Owerri and Imo state in general is the worst place in the SE. Owerri is the worst town in the SE, even worse than Aba. I still don't know who cursed Imo state and why. See the new face of your Owerri below. Owerri is a rural area in all indices of development. Owerri is a mad house, chaos, disorderliness, bad roads, fifth and total lack of government presence. Among all the states in the SE & SS, Imo state is the most backward and requires total demolishing. Owerri can best be described as a jungle. Face the fact which the picture below presents. Pictures speaks far better than any useless long grammar. cool

I agree with a lot of your sentiment but I don't think high rises above 12 feet are necessary. Sometimes we get caught up on the idea of something and loose track of the meaning or purpose. Yes, the idea of having skyscrapers is nice, but for what purpose? There are plenty of cities that were beautiful before skyscrapers where necessary. Take a look at Vienna

https://d2bgjx2gb489de.cloudfront.net/gbb-blogs/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/24112026/Vienna-Graben-street-870x400.jpg
Nothing on Banana Island can touch this.

I think this is the model we should strive for in the SE for a few reasons.

1. Economics - If we start building 12+ ft skyscrapers, that means the building market will be monopolized by the very few companies with this capability. This increases the average entry point of being a building contractor. In a country where credit is hard to get a hold of, this can be disastrous for indigenous firms as foreign firms that can get loans from their home countries will have a field day dominating the market. Of all the buildings in BI, how many Nigerians built them or make money from their building? Let alone how many Lagosians or Yorubas. Maybe 1-5, but in the SE you have thousands of people who can be contracted to build and all of them have created wealth for themselves.

2. Electricity - Those skyhighs are death traps in Nigeria. The fact is that the country has no real power. The amount of people that will be trapped in elevators or relegated to having to climb a mountain of stairs just to get to their office or apartment will be brutal. Especially if they're older or handicapped.

3. Congestion - If you build one building that 1000 people work at, that means every day 1000 cars will be fighting to go in the same direction of 2-4 lane roads. Everytime you add a skyscraper, add 1000 more. You'll create a situation where 20,000 people will be fighting to go to the same 2-3 blocks and this can be a nightmare.

You europe you don't have sky highs like you do in the US and european cities are 100x more beautiful, liveable and peaceful than US ones. They skyscraper model isn't for everyone

I think Onitsha and Aba would be appropriate for skyscrapers, especially Onitsha, but even they are ok with the current model.

Pictures speaks far better than any useless long grammar. cool
