He is the same guy called Ofuzo.

I sometimes wonder why they feel such negative passion against their fellow Igbos?

I am not from Anambra, but i grew up there and my Igbo dialect is like Anambra's. All my friends in elementary school and secondary school are from Akokwa, Dikenafai, Orlu,Mbaise,Arondizogu, Ngwa, Ubakala,Osisioma, Opi, Ezzamgbo, Izzi, Ehamufu etc. Some of our teachers too were from these places. I NEVER knew these were not towns in Anambra until now! They speak better Anambra dialect than me.Most of their fathers built massive 3-5 storey buildings in the city.

WHY should you ever wish the place that is practically your home town evil?
I truly don't understand them and i have stopped trying to.

I must say that you're one of the smartest people on here. This is what i''ve always been saying. The SE states need to host a lot of popular events in order for people to learn and know a lot about our states. Let our governors host the super eagles in our stadiums, host carnivals etc. Only that way will some people know that Igboland is not what they think it is.
The same Okorocha idea of showmanship when there is nothing to show. You guys always think there are short cut to development through fake showmanship.
Soon you will advise us to build statues of Bush, Clinton and Trump as a way to attract Americans as tourists to SE. Yet, you won't look at real example of Ghana or Kenya how they developed their tourism industry and transportation system to make tourists visit and enjoy themselves.

We don't NEED other Nigerians to think Igboland of whatever. It won't make them invest or come to live there. Except for those currently moving from Benue and Middlebelt due to the crisis.

What we need is CO_OPERATION between states to build critical infrastructure such as regional rail network, regional power supply systems etc. If you do that, The world, not just Nigerians will notice you. No need to plan on painting an old stadium to host super eagles and you call that "Development"

Cjrane2:
Two projects that will guarantee industrialization of the region:

1. Power plants especially Gas and/or Coal
and

2. Regional railway links are what the regional government should find Chinese financiers.

For a Total length of <1,000KM, to link key SE cities to the SS cities, this is a highly bankable venture for any investor.

These are the only projects that will give the region any hope of creating jobs within the region and cheaply moving goods and services from point A to point B.

Every other thing is secondary to these two major things that must happen. A lot has been said about this in numerous threads. I wonder why it has not started.https://www.nairaland.com/3780758/ohanaeze-sets-up-committee-design
Cjrane2:
Therefore the plan should be for a 5 years development plan for Regional railway.
The 3 steps are.

1. The SE Governors and SS Governors should secure permission from FG to build the regional railway and float a company "Eastern Corridor Railways Corporation (ECRC)"

2. Every benefiting state will invest 1% of their budget as Equity into the company to take care on initial takeoff This is later converted to shares in the company for the respective states.

3. Get Foreign companies to bid as foreign Technical partners to do the actual construction on a PPP arrangement and 100 Year BOT (Build-Operate_Transfer)

These three steps will ensure the project is actualized and it will greatly facilitate economic activities in both zones. Imagine travelling from Calabar to Onitsha or Port Harcourt on an air-conditioned train and get there in 2-3 hours? Or bringing your goods from Afikpo to Port-Harcourt. Then do your business and return to Calabar or Afikpo without Police harassment and bad roads?

I just want to continue to repost this excellent and bold plan for true development, until our leaders do something about modernizing transportation of goods and services in the subregion.

This project is more important than building bridges on the River Niger or other small projects. This will link infrastructure in the region (Power plants, Industrial complexes, key airports, Key sea ports, key farming areas etc) by rail.

It is achievable within 5 years if we follow the 3 steps outlined in the post above.

Expect Afonja and Abooki to come here to insult us about this.

One idea doesn't negative another. While we're waiting for our leaders to build a rail line and the tower of babel, we can market what we have. What is so special about Calabar and Uyo that everyone is raking about? These are things that can be easily done and we will put those places out of business (no pun intended). Take football for instance, i'm yet to see any Igbo governor that has sponsored the super eagles to come and play a match in their state, the way, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Port-hacourt have done in the past. While i think Rochas has his faults, we need a bit of that Rochas behavior. Put a world-class stadium in Onitsha, invite the super eagles and see them never leaving that place ever again because of the character of the city. We have a lot of things that we're not taking advantage of.

The same Ofuso guy that was arguing about septic tank with you in the IMO trend? you are funny. By the way, Imo state just copied Anambra state's flyover design. I won't be surprised if other SE States also copy Anambra state's flyover design just as they keep coping Anambra in every other thing. Enugu has also started paying money to each community in Enugu state after the governor saw the positive effect it had in Anambra.

That was the reason the Igbo senators called for the creation of the southeast development commission which will be funded by 3% of the federal allocation given yearly to each state of the SE so that this commission can take care of projects like regional power generation, railway etc but what exactly has happened to the bill? All this things you wrote, do you think the SE governors do not have them in mind already? When you get into power, you will understand that ruling a state or country is not as easy as writing a manuscript on Nairaland. Buhari, Fashola, Tinubu all taught that they were going transform Nigeria in just 2 years but, reality has hit them hard.

Spyder,
Thank you for the refreshing pictures,

I am hoping somebody will inform the Anambra State Government that the barriers on the express median has been broken and miscreants are now crossing the road again.

I don't know why people risk their lives to cross a high speed express on foot. I hope OCHA brigade begins to arrest them and fine each N20,000 every time you are caught crossing the express illegally without an overhead bridge
where is the over head bridge oga.

My visit to SGL church Ikoyi, Lagos shows that Anambra is still looking underdeveloped. You guys here saying that onitsha and Awka are beautiful need to visit Victoria island, Ikoyi, old lekki and banana island all in Lagos to see what beauty is all about. From the 3 Igbo trends on nairaland ( Enugu, Imo and Anambra trends), I have seen that Enugu state looks local but has as much green environment as Ikoyi which has made some places like New haven and Independence layout as beautiful as Lekki, in Imo state, only Owerri is beautiful in the entire state but it is clearly the only resort city in Nigeria and the most beautiful Igbo city with moderately clean and green environment with nice structures and houses all around the city. Owerri is surely the most beautiful in Igbo land and it is the only city that can stand up to Lekki and Ikoyi in terms of beauty but can't stand up to Banana island and Victoria island because of lack of buildings of 9 storeys and above. As for Anambra, Onitsha and Awka are the most promising metropolis in Igboland but they lack greenery and are not serene in any way. The fast developing communities such as Awka, Nkwelle etc lack paved streets while the roads that are paved are dirty with red sand everywhere and they lack grass, flowers and trees. Not to forget, they is only one high rise building in the entire Igbo land and it is in a rural community in Anambra not even in Onitsha or Awka. As for those of you who think those houses in Onitsha are high rise buildings, you all should think again because a building is tagged high rise when it is up to 12 stories not 4 or 5 stories. From the pictures shown in the different trends, I can tell you that the most beautiful cities in the SE are Owerri at first place, Enugu at second place, Onitsha metro at third place and Awka metro at fourth place however, If the shanties in all major markets in Awka and Onitsha are destroyed and the house owners are ordered to paint their houses with bright colours as well as plant flowers and trees and government does its own role in paving 90% of the streets in these metropolitan areas, Onitsha metro, is definitely going to be among the most beautiful cities in Africa because it presently has the multi story buildings in place to give it a modern city look. All Onitsha and Awka metros need is just polishing and strict laws which must be obeyed by all house owners but for now, believe it or not, Owerri is the most beautiful city in the SE and SS regions.
you dey lie oga , planting flowers in owerri is nonsense IMO people need to invest in industry's and not hotel or flowers let me tell you Onitsha and awka is dirty but thousands of Enugu igala and Edo people enter the state for job and work surviver .

I know and never countered that fact. I was only only talking about tourism not employment. By the way, people also move into Owerri to have fun, it is not everyone that is looking for employment, some are looking for where to enjoy themselves.

I was not saying that we should start building skyscrapers, I was only educating those who think that 4 - 6 story buildings are called high rise buildings. Anambra state does not need skyscrapers, in fact, the kind of houses in Onitsha and Awka metros are good enough to place them as some of the most beautiful cities in Africa but they are not yet clean and serene enough to be on that list. Another thing they are missing is advertisement. Those cities ( Onitsha and Awka) most start hosting big events in order to create awareness to the outside world that Nigeria is not only Lagos and Abuja. That is the same thing Cross river and Akwa Ibom are also doing and it has made them some of the most popular Nigerian States to the outside world. Some people even believe that Calabar and Uyo are more developed than Enugu, Onitsha metro, Awka .metro and Owerri. In the past few years, people have now began to rate calabar and uyo above even Port Harcourt because both cities host big events like The Experience, Football matches in a first class stadium and the Calabar carnival, let's not also forget other advertisements these states have done like showcasing modern standard highways in Uyo, Tinapa resort, Obudu cattle ranch, rain forests and have even gone ahead to create magazines to showcase the beautiful parts of their states to non Nigerians. What have we done to promote our own states? If you ask a non Igbo in Lagos to describe the SE for you, he/she will tell you that the SE is one of the most undeveloped region in Nigeria with dead roads and mud houses and also the most unsecured place in southern Nigeria that is why other Nigerians don't visit the SE for any reason and Igbos keep running away from their land to avoid getting killed or dying of poverty. If you haven't heard this before, I want you try it and ask a non Igbo person you meet Lagos or any other SW state to describe the SE for you.
Imo stage is the only state that is gradually making non Igbos know that the tourism sector of the SE is on the rise that is why within the last few years, Owerri has hosted two times more conferences than any SS and SE state as well as hosted 3 different Presidents of 3 African countries in just 2 months which is a wonderful achievement knowing fully well that Owerri is not the country's capital. Even Enugu, the eastern capital has never played host to such amount of Presidents in 5 years talkless of 2 months. People now troop in to Owerri from Port Harcourt and Bayelsa and Aba, Onitsha, Enugu etc to have fun and spend money. Owerri Airport now records more passengers than the Airports in Enugu, Uyo, Benin, Ibadan, Kaduna and even Kano and is also the fourth busiest airport in the country just behind those in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt all because of Tourism. Oyo state, Cross river state, Edo, Delta, Kano, Akwa Ibom, Kaduna, Enugu etc all have more industries than Imo state but Imo Airport is always busier than the Airports in those states because of tourism which is the main reason why I am begging Ndigbo to come together and build Owerri so that we can have at least one resort city in Nigeria and it will be located in Igboland. Forget about all these state demarcation nonsense, Owerri is for all of us and now that Owerri is showcasing the good part of Alaigbo to the world, we must make it the most beautiful city in Africa just as we plan to make Aba, Onitsha, Nnewi, Enugu, and Awka the engineering and Industrial hubs of Nigeria, Abakaliki as the Agricultural hub of Nigeria and Asaba ( well I have not discovered what we will use this city for ).

We also need to tell those nollyhood directors to start showcasing more of Igbo cities in their films rather than continue showing the abandoned hut houses in Enugu film villages. Those films have also done harm to the image of Igboland. Yorubas who now direct films where English is spoken now use Lekki, Ikoyi and VI and also ensure that they showcase some popular signboards and structures to make the viewers know that the beautiful environment that they are viewing is actually in Lagos. This is the reason why some Ghanian directors now come to those beautiful parts of Lagos to shoot their films. Have you ever seen them shoot English movies in Abeokuta, Ibadan, Ado Ekiti etc? Igbos should wise up.
yes my brother you spoke well .
