[quote author=asha9 post=69253247]It doesn't matter. Onitsha is a big city and hosts alot of big boys with disposable income and big visitors, so more of such up-scale hotels are needed in high brawl areas of Trans Nkisi, 3-3, GRA etc. Money is in the city, the hospitality industry is still very green. [/quote having more hotel in Onitsha is very cool . |

nnamdijonathan:I disagree that we don't have houses in the village. Yes, perhaps we don't take our villages as seriously as Anambra guys, nonetheless those that made money have represented. 99% of our people in Lagos that I went for their daughter's marriage had very decent homes. Asaba is also rising gradually in spite of the opposition to it as Delta state capital. Remember that in 1990, Asaba was more or less a tiny town like Agenebode or Idah. When Onitsha was already a megacity. Today, we haven't done badly. I totally disagree that our people dont build at home. You may say we have not started seeing the SE as an investment zone the way we see Warri, Lagos and Benin. Most Deltans were raised in these places, so we naturally prefer them. The only reason I'm here is that I grew up practically in the East.(Enugu and Onitsha) so my friends are mainly with Igbos. I don't want us to politically belong to SE, but we Must form strong bond with our Igbo root and make no apologies about it. |

omadeltason:This guy is my brother. I am also from Issele uku in Aniocha north and I really love that Onitsha and Anambra in general. What I want to do now to is find a way to import seeds of flowers and get the permission of the Onitsha LGA to plant flowers on any available median in Onitsha until I run out of seeds. I just love Anambra and their governor is too impressive. |

NonsoWow:The capacity of the 2 hotels in question are not much and will not pose any challenge to one another but instead will complement one another in many ways!. The area will benefit a lot because it will now attract net worth businessmen and women there by shading Onitsha of it's past bad image!. The transformation of Onitsha will continue no matter what! |

Chinese firm to build renewable energy plant in Nigeria - A Chinese firm, Shenzhen Kang Ming Sheng Technology Industry Incorporation, yesterday, said it is planning to invest in the building of a renewable and clean energy manufacturing plant in Nigeria to help address the epileptic power situation in the country. Speaking at the launch of the Kamisafe innovative safe reading lamp at the ongoing Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Optometry Association in Abuja, Mr. Goodluck Mbam, Marketing manager, Kamisafe, said building the plant, which is a medium to long term plan, would support its products deployment in Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Mbam disclosed that the plant,m which would produce affordable solar panels, solar streetlights, energy-saving bulbs, rechargeable lamps and fans among other clean energy products, would also help promote clean and renewable energy usage in Nigeria. He noted that the company is set to enter into partnership with some companies in the deployment of solar streetlights in some major cities across the country, while it also partnering with some major supermarkets in Lagos, seeking to acquire its affordable 7.5 KVA solar panels to power their outlets. He said, “We are planning on setting up a manufacturing plant in Nigeria that would produce products like solar panels and solar streetlight. Specifically, we are in the process of entering into various agreements with different individuals and organizations, to set up solar street lights in some parts of the country, especially in Lagos, Onitsha, Kano among others. “The world is tilting towards environmentally-friendly energy and there is no cleaner energy than what we offer. Instead of using generators and its attendant noise and air pollution, with your affordable solar panel, such as our 7.5 KVA panels, one can power his or her whole household. It can also power a supermarket. “There are some supermarkets in Ikeja, seeking to acquire our 7.5 KVA solar panels, instead of using generators. Again, instead of using generators, we have lights and rechargeable bulbs that can illuminate the whole house.” Also speaking, Mr. Collins Nnaji, Product Development Director, Kamisafe, said the company had been in Nigeria for about 15 years and had made significant investments in Nigeria over those periods. He added that the company presently have depots, distributors and sub-distributors all across the country and had been selling clean, safe and renewable energy products over the years. Commenting on the Kamisafe safe reading lamp, Nnaji said the product does not have bad effect on the eyes, because it is coated with LED bulbs, unlike some other torches in the market. He said, “We also have this new design and innovation we are bringing to the market. Unlike other products, the LED bulbs in it are coated, not allowing direct contact with the product. In usage, one does not feel pain because the rays of the light are not directly coming to the eyes.” Speaking in the same vein, an Mr. Esegine Ogheneovo, an Optometrist with Unimind Eye Care, Benin City, Edo State, said the Kamisafe safe reading lamp is great for the eyes, can be rotated up to 360 degrees, while the Lumen is quite high and very mild for the eyes. He said, “I also observed that the rate at which it is emitting its ultra-violet rays is quite mild compared to a lot of others. “It is unattractive to insect, meaning some particularly frequency range is being emitted that is not allowing insect to draw closer. Hence, it is a very good product. This would help me in my engagement with my patients.” © Vanguard |

SPECIAL APPEAL TO GOVERNOR WILLIE OBIANO Re: Dualization of Onitsha -33 - Nsugbe- Umuleri-Aguleri Road (Nkisi Road) Total Length: 22 KM. Forumites, please permit me to use this medium to call the attention of our able Gov. Willie Obiano to his key campaign promise of dualizing the Onitsha 33, - Nsugbe-Umueri-Aguleri road (Nkisi Road) We all know the critical importance of this perticular road segment to the future of Anambra as most of the key investments into Anambra's future, from agricultural revolution, to airport and oil and gas are linked to Anambra's biggest city - Onitsha via this road. I am appealing to Gov. Obiano to live up to his promise of dualizing this key road. Infact, since a single lane currently exist, dualization can merely focus on providing the second road beside the current one. In this way, it should not cost too much to build a 15 -20 KM road beside the current road from Nkisi road in Onitsha to Umueri, until it reached Aguleri. I understand that this is a federal road and should be the duty of the FG to dualize this key road. However, we know that will NEVER happen. Many states are able to dualize section of the federal roads entering their key city to ease traffic and boost trade and commerce. This 33-Aguleri road deserves to be dualized to facilitate economic development of the state. Biko umunnem, those close to Gov. Willie Obiano should remind him about this road so that he would flag it off early and have full 4 years to fund it to completion. I want to see that road like the picture below opening up and linking the new frontier of Anambra's future to Onitsha our biggest city. It will make land abundantly available for a lot of new mega projects in Anambra state. Away from the situation we have now.

Anambra traders risk jail sentence over alleged revenue diversion Awka- Anambra State government has threatened to send leaders of the various markets to jail for allegedly diverting revenues collected in the various markets in the state. The state commissioner for commerce and industry, Dr. Christian Madubuko, who issued the threat during a meeting he held with leaders of the Bridge Head Market, Onitsha, observed that the state government was losing billions of naira revenue due to corrupt practices by market leaders. Among the allegations were that most market leaders printed many fake receipts with which they use to defraud government, adding that while people were made to pay the stipulated levies, they never knew they were issued fake receipts in most cases. Madubuko, who was accompanied by security operatives during the meeting, came face to face with allegations and counter allegations over the manner government revenue was ending up in private pockets. For instance, hundreds of shops were being constructed daily in various places in Onitsha, but in most cases, the market leaders collect revenue from them without paying to government coffers. The commissioner, who was visibly worried, said he called the meeting because since he assumed office there had been series of allegations against the president general of the Head Bridge Market, Mr. Sunday Obinze, adding that some of the traders even wrote petitions, while some came personally to the ministry to complain. He said the annoying aspect of the situation was that the said chairman allegedly boasted that nothing would happen to him because he had allegedly paid his way through with N20 million gratification. He said: “We are looking for huge sums of money and we must get it. First of all, I want all line chairmen to give us full evidence of where the monies are, from 2015 to date, otherwise some people will go to jail. I want all the photocopies of tickets issued to people. I have proof that illegal tickets are circulating in the markets and this is a big financial sabotage.” Some of the traders had accused their chairman of printing over 10 types of illegal receipts, which were being used to collect revenue without remitting same to government and called on the state government to ban the use of receipts issued in the markets because they were fake. They also accused the chairman of diverting the N10 million released to the traders for project execution in the market, while the N5 million realized during revenue drive in the market was not paid to government. Meanwhile, the state government said it would introduce Close Circuit Television, CCTV, in all the markets, starting with the Onitsha Main Market as a way of reducing crime in the markets. The project was started two years ago, but was stopped following disagreement between the traders and government, but the state government said weekend that the was need to have it in place as it is obtained in developed countries. |

cjrane:In as much as solar energy is a good source of renewable power, I just hate solar energy. Its too expensive for the low power it generates and these solar panels store their energy in lead acid batteries and we all know that lead acid batteries become very weak after about 5 years of usage or even less which will require you to change the batteries. Those batteries don't even charge fast and solar power used to recharge these batteries are limited because of unavailability of sunlight at night and in the early hours of the day. If we decide to switch to lithium ion batteries which are 4 times better than lead acid batteries, we will have to spend thrice the amount used to purchase the lead acid batteries. Even the solar panels themselves tend to occupy too much space and still generate a disappointing amount of power. Imagine mounting solar panels enough to cover the one side of your entire roof and you get 800watts to 1000watts while just 2 mini wind turbines mounted like your DSTV dish behind your house are generating a combined power of 1,500watts. Wind turbines are better than solar panels to me, and remember that wind turbines work all through the day from morning till night and there are several times when the wind turbines' blades are prevented from rotating any further in order not to generate excess power when the batteries are fully charged. Try wind turbines in your home and thank me later. |

| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by cjrane: 11:18am On Jul 11, 2018 |
omadeltason:Do you mean Airline or Airport? There is a reason why all the international airports built in northern Nigeria from Sokoto , to Katsina, to Kaduna to maiduguri to Bauchi to Dutse etc etc arent working. AIRLINES will decide where to fly their planes and if it will be profitable. Building airports are one thing, getting airlines to actually bring their planes there, a whole different thing all together. |

A total of 22 pupils from our very own PinkBerry International School ODUME OBOSI had visited the Nigerian Stock Exchange Onitsha Branch G.R.A, Anambra State on an educational tour, under the amiable guardianship of Mr.Chidiebere Eziaghala, and need I say it was both fun and informative! The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) was established in 1960, and became operational in 1961 with Sir Odumegwu Ojukwu as her 1st Indigenous President (This was indeed an ''aha'' moment for the kids as they were amazed at the information that the Legendary Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu's father was the first President of the NSE). Though it started out as The Lagos Stock Exchange, the name was changed in 1977 to what we now know as The Nigerian Stock Exchange with 13 functioning branches scattered all across the Federation, with Onitsha as one of her branches, and Lagos State as her HeadQuarters. The Organisation which serves as the Capital Market's Central Bank has this as her Mission: "TO PROVIDE INVESTORS AND BUSINESSES A RELIABLE, EFFICIENT, AND AN ADAPTABLE EXCHANGE HUB IN AFRICA, TO SAVE AND TO ACCESS CAPITAL.'' With Mr. Abimbola Ogunlana as the current President, and Mr. Oscar Onyema as CEO, the NSE has these as some of her many functions: 1.To provide open forum for people to buy and sell securities. 2.To provide opportunities for businesses to raise funds. 3.To encourage people to make savings. 4.To act as medium for dissemination of information to investors and industrialists. Towards the end of our tour there, Mr. Chidiebere, the Tour Guide gave the children some very important financial management tips that would put them over as the years go by. He asserted that the kids were opportuned to be receiving such information at their tender age (thanks to our visionary leader Mrs. Royaline Ikebuaso who made this outing possible); something a majority of the populace has no knowledge about. He concluded by admonishing the children to encourage their parents to not only take them out to an Amusement Park, but to also open a savings account for them and get shares in their name so as to financially secure their academic future! The children at the end of the tour were grateful to Mr. chidiebere Eziaghala and the Entire Staff Members of the Organisation they came in contact with while touring. They left armed with not just information, but words; words to 'stock' up their word arsenal, and to set them apart in the future! We have come a long way as a School, and it has become obvious that here in PinkBerry International School, it is in our mission to raise kids that will take the mantle from great men like Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Aliko Dangote and the likes. Children that will shine brightly as the firmaments of the sky and torch up their entire generation for ages to come. At PinkBerry school, we are committed to grooming our children...Your children for excellence! |
