I've been wondering why I don't come across Tokunbo Hyundai cars.

Is it that they are not sent to Africa?
or
There are no used Hyundai cars abroad?
or
Africans run away from them maybe because they are probably "bad vehicles"?

Same thing applies to Kia cars.

I'm saying this coz they look like cheaper options, but I don't know how strong they are.

Perhaps you have not been following the auto section.

A whole lot of Hyundai & Kia Tokunbo from US are sold and used in Nigeria.

I have sold over 20 of it in about a year and more might not come due to increasing demand by e-hailers (Uber Taxify etc) leading to price hike at auction.

Let me add you should start you search from 2007 for Hyundai and 2006 for Kia.

Elantra, Santa FE, Rio are very solid vehicles especially the American specs.

Without doubting the guy above who claim to be selling Tokunbo Hyundai.

I learnt that Hyundai company in Nigeria has a working MOU with Customs not to allow used Tokunbo into the country to facilitate their sales.

Almost all Hyundai and Kia products in Nigeria are bought brand new or bought as Naija used. And most owners don't have custom papers as part of the vehicle particulars.

I bought a Naija used hyundai accent 2013 and the "particular checkers" on the roads do give a pass after seeing the Hyundai company sticker on the back glass

Really, you do actually believe such MOU with Naija customs do exist and want proof. Meaning you will believe anything then!!!

About 70% of Hyundai/Kia in Nigeria are Tokunbo just like other vehicle brands. Nigerians have been driving both products before Dana Motors came into the picture with the brand new version that's less equipped (some people are of the opinion they come without airbags buttressed by an accident that occurred along Awolowo Road Ikoyi some months back without any airbag deployed), and the air-conditioning system developing recurring fault after 3yrs (ask those companies using them for pool cars).

As for the "particular checkers", perhaps you were lucky to meet the incompetent ones cos no sticker can excuse customs papers especially not with this present customs.

dem dey but not as common as our tested, trusted and reliable brands.

till Nigerians begin to appreciate the brand, their resale value might not be that appealing.

dealers go for what moves the market, the laws of demand and supply tend to come into play.

the brand itself is very very OK and classy too
