I'm a bit worried.
My reservation with Travel start was canceled as I do not have a transit visa to Dublin or a schengen visa for Frankfurt.

Now I have booked from Lagos to Montreal and there is going to be a 45 minutes stopover at Dublin. Will I be needing a transit visa since we will just be there for 45 minutes.

Please reconfirm this cancellation with Travel start again as I'm certain that you don't need a transit visa if u are not leaving the airport between connecting flights.

Hi guys,

I would be landing in September with Turkish Airlines/Air Canada. The connections are tight and I'm a bit worried about losing my luggage (I have seen few cases online of this with Turkish airlines). Does anyone know if there a way/facility to track the luggage at the airports??

Landing/settlement is not beans, someone cannot come and add missing luggage to it. I intend to prioritise them at the port of departure though

Ensure you declare it, not at Nigerian Immigration though, but on the form you fill in the plane and when asked by CBSA.

Hello @all,

If someone carries 10000 US dollars cash to Canada, would there be any issues in depositing the sum over the counter into a Canadian bank account?

Thanks.

Oh you're in Ottawa?! I'm kinda new on this thread so I'm just skimming through the pages. I've been I Ottawa for almost 2yrs now. You can get assorted meat and fish/seafood from GreenFresh Supermarket. It's a Chinese store. When I mean assorted I mean you can even find frog meat.

Dear God! hope they will not contaminate real meat with frog

Please someone just made mention of 'transit visa', that if my flight is not a direct one: from lagos to edmonton, that i will be asked to show a transit pass at each stop we make. I myself dont even understand this, please can someone clear me?

I want to board ethopian airlines and there will be 2 stops before we finally get to edmonton. According to their website, once you put in your departure and destination, the flight lists comes out and all of them have their stops, the one am choosing even has the least number of hours and stops. How do i know which flight is direct or not and what is this about transit visa? Please i will really appreciate an explanation from someone, thanks guys!

Hi dear, have you receive your passport now
What date are you going and for how much.

I need some input here. I am a chartered accountant ACCA working in a bank here in Nigeria and about to relocate to Canada. I also studied Computer science first degree and has done nothing with the degree except to gather some certifications, In the course of doing one of the certifications, i realised my area of interest is IT security ad it is also a lucrative emerging area in IT.

Now I want to fully understand and practice IT security without recourse to my ACCA certification but people are advising me otherwise. That i should move from known to unknown. That i should first use my ACCA to get their CPA/CGA and get job while working towards my IT security career.

Please i need advise from people in these field and which city can i find both opportunities.

Thank you
Get into Canada with your ACCA. Then venture into the IT world. Either way you still get to Be recruited from entry level. Going to Canada is a big opportunity for you start afresh

question1: please seniors in the house, is it possible to get a visa processing agent who isn't a fraudster?
2: the agent is family friend, so he promised that i shouldn't pay now, till all the documents are out, so i'll like to forward it here for seniors in the house to see, if it's not a fake document before paying.
3: is 3 million naira, going to be enough for me, to come into canada?
the agent said he has a friend there, so no need for accomodation and he promised get me a job.

Hopefully you won’t learn to stay away from agents by experiencing them.

You have access to the Internet, take newmum’s Advise and do the research needed to find the path you can take to Canada.

Take that 3million and invest in treasury bills for now if you don’t know what to do with it, until you figure things out.

EXAMPLE TIME

like I said my phone model name is LG V20 and model number is LS997, model numbee is very important because not all model share the same hardware and software.

I headed to GSMarena to check the frequency band my phone supports. They are

I googled the frequency Rogers Canada operates on, here:

Frequencies used on the Rogers Network
NETWORK Technology
2G bands........... GSM 850, 1900 MHz
3G bands............HSDPA 850, 1900 MHz
4G bands............LTE band 4(1700/2100)

Conclusion: my phone would work just fine with Rogers because it supports frequency 850, 1900 for 2G&3G and 1700, 2100 for 4G. These are actually the most commonly used frequencies by Canadian mobile network, so you should be fine in Canada if your phone support these frequencies.

What if my phone supports only one of the frequencies? My infinix phone supports both 850 and 1900 for 2G (GSM) but it only supports 850 for the 3G. Will it still work?

I was made to understood by travelstart that If your layover time is over night, you would need a transit visit but if it is same day you wouldn’t need a transit visit. Say you arrive Frankfurt 23/7 at 9:45pm and your connecting flight is (next day) 24/7 at 7:15am, you would need a transit visa.
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by koonlay5: 2:41pm On Jul 22, 2018
Well from my experience, the network your phone operates in will likely limit the option of the provider you will go with.
Now to your question, I think it might work but might affect the services you will have access to by the provider like HD Calls, data speed and the likes.

Well in my case, I don't know if am just overly lazy.
Taking EE rout to canada is obviously one of the best means. But my fear is that my course of study and my present job are unrelated. Studied mech engrng and working in a bank.
DO I stand a chance at all? If yes, what entry profession is the best.
Are there people getting this truly?

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm thinking of earning a Bsc online from Athabasca University in Computer Science, with the hope of using it to pursue an Msc in Canada physically. The issue is that I have mailed a couple of schools, and the response has been that they don't consider degrees earned online in applications, and this is kinda a career switch as In currently a final year student of Optometry here in Nigeria.
My question is, are there any reputable universities which I can apply to for Msc in Computer Science with a Bsc earned online from Athabasca University

Hello Chief,

Sent you DM regarding this.

40manlappy:
Anyone that needs the DL authentication letter urgently from FRSC can send me a PM so that I can share a contact that I got recently. I don't think it would be appropriate to post his phone number and email address here.

Based on available information, you may just be required to arrange for courier service if you don't have someone to pick it up for you in Abuja.

IMO, that is still cheaper than paying $50 to obtain it in Ottawa, especially if you are still in Nigeria.

Sometime it's okay to admit you don't know what the question is or simply just "jump and pass". And I don't mean that as an insult. As a Postdoctoral fellow myself, I struggled with the question of how to navigate my academic career in Canada and was on the verge of ditching academia. However, I have made tremendous progress over the last six months and I will share some tips and advice at the appropriate time as I am very busy at the moment. I just don't want you discouraging people, that's what compelled me to post this snippet.

@iamforcanada, dudade, and other prospective researchers in the house. I'd be sure to mention you when I get around to posting a detailed response.

Cheers and good luck to everyone.

The operative word is 'keen' not impossible. I know a few people who have gone through the academia path too and I considered it but it is a longer path.

What it means is that you would only get 3G on 850. if it happens that you are in an area where for some reason 3G is transmitted on 1900 only, you would have no 3G reception but would be able to make & take calls, and browse using 2G. If you do not intend to use your device for heavy data, i think it is good enough for Rogers. Though you should know that carriers overseas are shutting down their 2G infrastructure, for Rogers the timeline is 2020 I think, some others do not use 2G at all.
